Remember that Dragon we fought in ‘The Dream’ as Sylvari?
We never hear of it again, we never encounter it again… Or do we?
-Spoilers to the Personal Story below, You have been warned-
Trahearne is the one Sylvari whose sole purpose in life was to undo Zhaitan’s work. This character is also one of the strongest characters we’ve ever seen. He can do necromancy, wield a greatsword, use elemental powers, and much much more. Clearly, there’s only one reason for this.
Trahearne is a Dragon.
He must used all his power and have planted himself into The Dream, and turned himself into a Sylvari.
He is the most intelligent of them (having invaded the Pale Tree which is supposedly immune of Dragon corruption) and wishes to take lead of the Dragons, but in order to do so, he had to take Zhaitan out of the picture.
Edit: Because his nature powers conflict with Zhaitan. (or because Zhaitan is the leader?)
And we’ve done just that… He barely had to lift a finger (or claw…).
Orr will serve as a hospitable nesting ground for his reign once the island is cleansed of Zhaitan’s residue.
Sooner or later, he’s going to eat Caladbolg and return to his true form.
All of the corpses on Orr will become part Sylvari (or at least part plant), a giant dragon Tree will spawn in the city of Arah, and the Nightmare Court will have a new home.
This game is the pinncale of homage to “Plants vs Zombies”.
Guess what?
The plants won.

Not sure if serious…
Why does he need to get rid of Zhaitan specifically? Zhaitan wasn’t even close to being ‘the leader of the dragons’. Also, are you suggesting that originally, he was a dragon, that somehow got into the Dream, became a sylvari firstborn, and it’s all just some giant mesmer thing?
Hmm, I was under the impression that Zhaitan was the big kahuna.
Perhaps they are merely rivals due to their opposing powers. Undead vs Nature.

And yes. He was a dragon, used his own powers to infiltrate the Dream, and become a firstborn, and has been using social-networking to manipulate all of Tyria. :U

“However, the records surviving from the previous cycle mention only six dragons.”
I count only 5 from wiki.
Primordius, Jormag, Zhaitan, Leviathan(the one in the ocean?), and Kralkatorrik. (Shatterer is Kralk’s champion thing)
Though, there’s a note about a sixth called Mordemoth
The Inquest have 6 points in their Infinite Coil Reactor for harnessing the power of the dragons, 5 of the points are fixated for storing minions of the 5 known dragons, while the 6th is nature themed, with Deadly Blossoms present…
Deadly Blossoms -> Nightmare Court -> The Nightmare -> Darkness within the Dream -> DAT DRAGON!
Trahearne is Mordemoth! O_O

I’m not sure if serious either. :P
But this would explain why the Sylvari are immune to Zhaitan’s corruption.
The Sylvari could in fact be a manifestation of Mordemoth’s power. When he planted himself in the Dream, his power could have mixed into the Sylvari’s form, producing people who are immune the dragon corruption.

Sorry, I don’t buy it. Credit for saying ‘crackpot theory’ at the beginning though, so I didn’t think you were totally in earnest and convinced about this! :P
This character is also one of the strongest characters we’ve ever seen. He can do necromancy, wield a greatsword, use elemental powers, and much much more.
I wouldn’t say that Trahearne is notably more powerful than average. Most of his special stuff (his necromancy aside) seems to be associated with Caladbolg, and that’s power the sword bestows – any old player character can pick it up and use the same skill set, if you pick the right story options.
Theories linking the Pale Tree and mysterious sixth dragon abound, in various shapes and forms. Too much of your theory doesn’t make sense though; other sylvari have Wuld Hunts linked to Zhaitan (Caithe, along with sylvari players, is supposed to straight out destroy it) for one thing. The whole undercover plot thing seems unnecessarily roundabout and unreliable, not to mention significantly unlike any other dragon.
You want a real crackpot theory?
Grenth is Menzies.
Both have ties to darkness and destruction (Grenth, god of death, ice, darkness, destruction, judgment, mortality, sorrow, and strict ethics; Menzies the Mad, Lord of Destruction, leader of the Shadow Army). Grenth was born as a half-god, son of Dwayna and a mortal sculptor. Menzies is Balthazar’s half-brother – Balthazar is a full-fledged god so Menzies is likely a half-god too. All this would mean is that Balthazar’s mother is Dwayna. And take note: Grenth holds annual competitions with Dwayna (who calls him a fiend and other mean things), Grenth holds opposition to Lyssa, Grenth took over Dhuum’s throne, and Melandru sided with Dwayna during Wintersday (while Balthazar with Grenth). When Abaddon was killed, Olias said Grenth would ensure that Abaddon would never return. Grenth is already fighting 3 gods, and took 1 down. Who’s to say the god of darkness isn’t ploying to be some shadowy figure, aiding Dhuum and Abaddon with the intention of overthrowing them (again) as well as Balthazar?
Grenth is trying to become the One True God. Nuff said.
And how exactly can Grenth as Menzies help Abaddon and Dhuum, while he battles Dhuum at the same time? The gods would know he is both at the same time, so he wouldn’t be fooling anyone, except the mortals. But what would he gain from that? Menzies doesn’t even have humans to fight for him, only Balthazar and Grenth do this, which in turn makes it even more unlikely that they are the same. Why would he use humans in his battle against Dhuum, who is also his ally, but not in his battle with Balthazar… who is also his ally?
New crackpot theory, the herald is Bahltek, who got a lot nicer with age. He now enjoys sharing knowledge with inferior minds, mostly because his arrogant attitude left him without friends for several hundred years. He’s just lonely, that’s why he stalks our PC.
Pfft, the gods don’t know everything (they didn’t know they were pulling magic from Zhaitan, for instance). So who’s to say that Grenth couldn’t fool the other gods? And why fight Dhuum? Because they’re not really allies, hence the ploy. :P
