Dhuum fight?
It’s a possibility. I suspect given the supposed chaos of the Underworld (creatures spilling out from them in three places weak between Tyria and the Underworld, and the Reaper who appears in the personal story being weak) that Dhuum has broken free, perhaps causing trouble in the afterlife and is the reason why resurrection no longer exists.
Fun thing to note: the skeletons under Thorn’s employ are very similar in ability to the Skeletons and Champions of Dhuum (the bow and axe guys).
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
huh really? hum….. interesting!
also is there maybe a way….that dhuum may try to….control a dragon…..or maybe there will be an underworld dragon of some sort? that would be fun to fight =D
like the 10 quests in GW1, make one u have to fight the dragon!! ^^
I don’t think the Elder Dragons exist outside Tyria, though it’s a possibility. I’d say it’s minute. I don’t think Dhuum would care enough about Tyria to bother, tbh.

huh okay…. ;P i guess you’re right…..
And I doubt Dhuum would have the power to ‘control’ an ED
If the six are supposed to be on par with the dragons, then one single god wouldn’t be able to overpower one single dragon
I honestly would love another Dhuum fight! It was fun and something really nice, different from other fights ( Like CoF and SE in this game from example). I think thar A.net has a lot of things to do in this game in the matter of expansions if they want to. My biggest wish is for A.net to do like FoW and UW in GW, but do 1 special dungeon for each god in this game, would be so awesome!!!! (Since I’m a Mesmer, hoping for a Lyssa themed elite dungeon:D )
Don’t forget, with the other races and their belief systems, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was someday a war in the mists to defend the spirits of the wild, or perhaps other such things. I mean we know that the Mists are vast and very varied when it comes to the environments and creatures within it. So many possibilities to consider. Like, perhaps, what has happened to the Hall of Heroes?
That’d be cool if Dhuum killed Grenth and took over the underworld again I’d love to see Dhuum in GW2. He’s my Favorite Guild Wars character.
Sadly that doesn’t seem possible. Between having the ability to create minions, and the existence of a reaper which claims Grenth is still around, I’m prettty sure Grenth still reigns over death, to some extent. Now to what extent, and whether or not Dhuum has awakened and is fighting Grenth is unknown.
haha yeah, though, the dhuum killing grenth….nooooo….i love grenth…
also….id rlly like to have this one epic dhuum fight….but with dhuum controlling an ED champion as if it’s his minion……
also, give me ur thoughts about this lost shore event thing thats coming soon…
dont u think they will reveal Bubbles???
Bubbles, no. His minions perhaps.
ugh…yeah…..i meant the minions…i also ment bubble’s lore :P
Perhaps a name.. other than Bubbles or DSD
Dhuum is waiting for the elder dragons to die, to give them a final death in the Underworld. After that he an would gain an extra-ordinary amount of power enough to beat the reapers and Grenth (For those that do not know Dhuum gains power for each death that occurs in the Underworld). Oh and maybe he will leave one dragon for Menzies because we all know Menzies wants a leet dragon mount so he can beat Balthazar.
In all seriousness there will probably could be a plot based on Dhuum and Menzies. They are allies. Dhuum is a popular character for the humor presented in his various other names and ban-scything players in GW 1, there is still much mystery about him because we know enough about him but not his full story lore wise.
Menzies-We never got to fight Menzies and it has been requested that Menzies be added as a final boss like doom was for his respective zone in Guild Wars 1. I honestly think longed for an epic battle in FoW between the Eternals and the shadow army led by Menzies in a large scale battle. We have never met Menzies either but we know Dhuum is very strong.
IF and when Dhuum and Menzies are added, here are my predictions
Lore seems to indicate that Dhuum can not be killed, unless Grenth finds a way. You will probably have to seal him up again with the reapers help. Odds are you will fight Dhuum again just right after he breaks free and not at full power. Otherwise he would go on a killing spree if not sealed up quickly and get powered up and that would be the end of it right there. No more resurrection and final death for everyone.
Menzies depends how they decide to with it but I always imagined him being General. It would be great to see him leading his shadow army beside some of his priests granting him powers, (aka body guards) I hope they do not go that route though. They can think up a multitude of interesting mechanics for him. I wouldn’t think of Menzies as someone who would fight directly but as someone who makes his army fight for him more so of a tactician. I’d say his fight would be best off if he summons a group of his champions to fight with him. Each one would have its own class like in the GW1 a priest as support heals condition removal, Elementalist for AoE, A war for stuns and to move you out of position, a ranger does cripples and barrages of arrows for old times sake from GW1. Menzies would sit back hit you from a hill with an Aoe strong small AoE and give boons/inspire his champions and summon extra trash mobs. once you beat his champions he will jump down and melee you. Odds are they would give him a skill set similar to the corrupted priest of Balthazar because they lazy and make him summon more shadow army to help him out. When you get his HP low he runs away and shouts I’ll get you next time" like all other bad guys and viola typical boss battle.
lol that was beautiful….. also no for the bad guy ending ._.
but still…i agree with the alliance between menzies and dhuum, im just sad abaddon couldnt be there to make it a triple threat =(
would be cool to see those margonites and corrupted and the titans coming back =)
The inherent problem is not that I think Grenth cannot kill Dhuum, but I think it is more of a will not kill Dhuum.
The entire story of Dhuum, the Final Death, is just that. He is a merciless entity that kills. He does not just send you to the Underworld, you are dead. That is the end of your story. Their differences over ruling the Underworld are entirely philisophical. Without Grenth there’d be no Necromancy, no Resurrection, no Second Chances. However because he specifically allows these very things, I think it is why he refuses to kill Dhuum. S’way I look at it at the very least.
As for Menzies, I’m completely torn by the situation with Menzies. He’s obviously a complete foil to everything that Balthazar stands for. Balthazar believes in honorable battle, where Menzies plots from the Shadows. Fire is often a metaphor for light, and Menzies all that is insidious that lies in the Shadows. The only hint we’ve ever even been given on his location in the mists is somewhere in the impenetrable darkness of Ravenheart Gloom. Even then, I suspect that to even look for him would be a wild goose chase. If we ever do fight him, I expect a harrowing, nerve racking fight against something I can barely see. Though I’d dearly love to see how Anet envision him, I suspect that he’s a figure they’ve kept so tightly underwraps because it actually plays well with his character and what he stands for.
haha yeah….it would indeed be epic to fight menzies….im rlly looking forward to returning to the realm of torment
though i srsly dont wanna see mallyx’s face ever….again….
anyway, everyone who wants those asura power suits buffed raise your hands!!!!
About why we have never seen Menzies, I believe was said somewhere in leaked info but they had planned for Menzies to be a Tactician*though the info has obviously been confirmed*. It would make sense since that’s why we have never actually seen him. Also it makes sense to of been hiding in raven heart gloom since of the high number of shadow army soldiers there, why would he have so many in the area if not for his protection…either way i wanna see him in the future lol.
as for the Grenth cant or wont kill Dhuum for good …well he probably feels he would be no better them Dhuum if he had, It could also be he has abit of his godly mother Dwayna in him xD
Guys? have u seen the colossus in fractals? do u think it could be one of the Great Giants? whose bones were found in deserts in GW? plz reply
That was Giganticus Lupicus, and if I remember right you actually fight one of those in the dungeon in Arah.
I doubt Dhuum will return, for this reason: Dhuum was the former god of death, before Grenth overthrew him. Him returning would imply the 6 human gods are real, making every other religion in Tyria obsolete because humans can say “you can go fight Dhuum if you don’t believe me”. I don’t think the devs want to give up the diversity of the reilions by creating ‘one true’ religion.
^
But the other races do seem to believe in the human gods. they just don’t revere them as humans do. They leave the humans do draw what they need from their gods while they seek it from other sources.
My sylvari had to do a favor for a reaper of grenth in order to get info out of him. I don’t remeber him saying “why should I help you…grenth isn’t real”.

As Rehashed mentioned the other races don’t worship the Six, but Anet have actually done a pretty good job at integrating them in correlation to the other races beliefs.
The Asura simply believe that the Six are further components to the Eternal Alchemy.
The Norn view them as Spirits of Action, and refer to them by what they represent, not by their traditional Human names (Balthazar is the Spirit of War is the most cited example given by Anet)
And even the Charr acknowledge they exist. For one they largely consider them the reason why they initially lost their territory in Ascalon, thanks to Divine intervention giving Humanity the edge they needed to push the Charr back. Though the Charr are often called Atheist, this isn’t actually true. Atheism is the Lack of Belief, where the Charr are more accurately described as Anti-Theist. They think the worship of entities makes you weaker, where to believe in your own strengths and merits would make your stronger.
The only Race who is described as not acknowledging the existence of the Six is the Sylvari. However I think this in time will change, especially considering the events in Orr that were largely led by a Sylvari. However their personal opinion on the Six is still out, since they haven’t really seen anything of the Six. Sylvari seem to prefer to judge something on their own experiences, so until they actually see something that the Six are doing, they’ll with hold their opinions on them.
I’d absolutely love to see Dhuum again. Long before Dhuum was introduced as a boss encounter, he was only mentioned in a few pieces of dialogue, first in the Chaos Planes and then in the Realm of Torment, in Nightfall. I remember arguing with someone that it was extremely unlikely we’d ever get to see him, and I’m so glad I was proven wrong, because he was a great addition, and would be again.
On a related side-note, I’d also love to see the return of other long-lived, near-unkillable characters from GW1, who we only temporarily put down: Zhu Hanuku or Urgoz, specifically. It’s stated that Zhu Hanuku is seasonally defeated and makes his return, and I believe the Factions guide stated that Urgoz is never truly defeated in-game (may have been a different source of information).
Theres a Dhuum weapon ingame – he may be dead.

I truly think that the former god of death can’t be unmade for the simple reason that you can’t kill death.. Having said that, If they let us put them to sleep on purpose has to be seen. We can never truly know if they have plans for him and if so how detailed they are (like ranging from ‘we might do something with him in the future’ to ‘he is going to be in a dungeon we are revealing on this and that date’ ).
Personally I don’t hope to see him again and the reason is that I like to see new things. But if they do it I hope they do it in an original way.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
guys, i agree with all the “make dhuum battle even more original”, but look….some ppl are saying hes dead! i have to completely disagree…why did arenanet make him fall asleep every time u “kill” him in GW1? except from making UW repeatable, i sense theres even more to it….but i still hope they make it as hard as possible and as fun as possibleD
btw, those giants in arah were surely not Giganticus Lupicus, but perhaps that colossus may be ;PPP

Please read this: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Ruined_City_of_Arah_(explorable)#Giganticus_Lupicus
A boss in the final dungeon is actually named Giganticus Lupicus. the other normal risen giants are indeed not.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
hm……that giant looks rlly too short to be owner of those bones in crystal desserts =(
That’s because it’s not. Nothing ever said those bones seen in GW1 were Giganticus Lupicus bones. And besides, they’re not canines.
I suspect that those bones are related to the Leviathan (tyrian versions) and/or some other pre-historic aquatic/reptilian race. Same goes for Bone Dragons (unlike Tequatl and Zhaitan’s other champions, the Bone Dragons’ skeleton is actually that of a dragon’s – well, I should say Zhaitan’s champions don’t reveal skeletal structures so they can be akin to Risen Abominations).
And besides, Glint despite being corrupted by Kralkatorrik appears like she was a living being before corrupted (being non-hollow, unlike the Shatterer), and the Claw of Jormag looks to be a skeleton encased in ice (particularly the limbs), which would indicate a now-extinct draconic race (if not dragons themselves, then something close enough for corruption to easily turn them into dragons), which could be related to those bones.

interesting…it would be quite unusual for dragons to be able to corrupt other dragon’s bones to turn them into minions…or what if EDs can actually turn other dead EDs into their minions? thats an option as well ;D
Well, I know Konig has before mentioned that perhaps there were more Elder Dragons and that they were perhaps a race of beings on Tyria before anything else existed. It makes sense, then, that possibly the current elder dragons are the only living ones, while all the others were either consumed or converted. It would make an interesting possible backstory.
wouldnt it?? hehe
but doesnt that mean….zhaitan can be consumed? O.O
Well my thought on it is that usually when things consume they grow. Perhaps after consuming copious amounts of magic and brethren Elder Dragons the dragons have grown into the massive beasts they are.
doesnt that mean kralkatorrik ate quite a few dragons? and by the looks of it…he waited for the right moment to come…just this time…he miscalculated?
Well the theory would mean these 6 ate quite a few each, but again this is just theory.
Dhuum might be an integral part of the GW2 Elona Campaign as Palawa Joko basically owns the continent with an undead army and the player might have to do a deal with the devil (Dhuum)like before with Palawa Joko to help cull the undead army and therefore Joko, which he will agree to as it will make him stronger. He might even be the final boss of that campaign.
Well, this theory could work had GW2 been revolved around Humans only again. I don’t think they’d focus on Dhuum, because he’s an integral part of the UW, a [human] God’s Realm, Grenth. But if something with the UW happened in the storyline in the future, it could very well be a possibility. This is only my opinion, I don’t believe it’s fact. We can only hope and wait that we get to fight him again :P

Here’s the thing, if Dhuum had his power back there would be two being that he would kill (after Grenth for deposing him) and that is Palawa Joko and Zhaitan. Why you may ask? Well it’s simple really, Dhuum loves undeath, but it is a power that he worked hard to deny for anyone but himself. So simply put, Zhaitan stealing souls from the mists and implanting them within their old bodies weakens Dhuum’s strength in the Underworld (assuming he is ruling somehow). Similarly, many of the undead of Palawa Joko hold on to a bit of their souls as well. I see this personally as him trapping the soul within the body before it can escape, rather than ripping it out of the mists though, but once again, having people living on after death is something that Dhuum never would have allowed. Simply put, it’s just as likely that we would ally with Dhuum to stop Palawa Joko’s power over undeath than that we would fight Dhuum for it. I gotta say though, when it comes to the lesser of two evils thing that we had going on when we released Joko in the first place, Dhuum is definitely a greater evil than Joko.
likely since dhuum is literally death itself, Grenth just found a way to overpower him, make him sleep and take over
Dhuum isn’t death himself, he just thinks he is. 1,000+ years in imprisonment kind of messes with your head. Probably why Dhuum refers to Dhuum as DHUUM.
