do we know what state menzies is in currenly, its been 250 years since his army was pushed back in the fissure of woe, was his army destroyed at that time or just forced to retreat, does the in game item the fate of menzies tell us anything about his current status, it looks quite skeletal and on fire (making it seem plausible that Balthazar the half brother he was warring against burnt him to death? after all Balthazar was the god of fire)

I know that there’s been some debate on the subject, but I am inclined to view that item as evidence of the nature of Menzies’ demise- though it alone is not enough to claim that it has occurred yet. It could just as easily be a taunt, threat, or promise from Balthazar or one of his minions.

On the other hand, I recall getting a vague impression when going (partially) through FoW that the Balthazar-Menzies conflict was an eternal one, intrinsic to the very nature of that realm. A quick wiki search turned up very little, but my very tenuous stance is this- Balthazar’s Eternal army and Menzies’ Shadow army have fought and will fight forever over the Fissure of Woe, and at the end of the endless conflict, Menzies will die a horrible death.

Do we know what Menzies is up to? No. We have heard a grand total of nothing about his very existence in the game of Guild Wars 2 excluding “The Fate of Menzies” exotic weapon which, given the lore value of weapons (read: none to next-to-none), holds nothing of any reasonable value.

Side note: Aaron, how can there be an end of an endless conflict? Isn’t that a bit… paradoxical?

so menzies the dark lord of shadows retired? that is an awesome idea

I bet he’ll be eventually put into some LS stuff and later described as “he was there because we thought he’d fit the theme”. Or Scarlet will make a new Alliance. Like Shadow Skritt Alliance

it’ll end up being the white mantle and menzies skritt or something…. maybe we shouldnt give them ideas? for april fools its awesome though
