Dragon of Undeath
Gods have indestructible power, and seemingly unchanging while being blinding to those who look up on the god, while the power of the Elder Dragons rise and fall. An Elder Dragons’ power would not explode, because it remains in the corpse (should they function like dragon champions) and slowly seep into the world like when they’re sleeping.

Ah, I see. So, ignoring that point of my theory, any opinions on the zombification of the already zombie-like dragon?
I think ressurection of Zhaitan would be weird in the story. I mean, the strongest argument to recreate him is upgrading his fight to actually feel like a fight.
But we have celebrated it’s defeat, we cleanse Orr. With current pace of the story, where we haven’t defeated any of the remaining 5 dragons over 2 years, not even scratched various other plots, stories and possible new continents returning “Sup” Zhaitan would completly stop the progress of the story.

No creature known to us is outright capable of involuntary animation. There’s other active threads with similar theories going on, anyways, such as Consumption of Zhaitan presently.

From a technical view is the body cutted into several part which are well spread across the fighting area. The rest was shot down with cannons which caused even more destruction of the body. A whole lot of a mess which is quite hard to fix and with the mass of material lost (we trade with parts of the body at the dungeon vendor) there won’t be enough left to make him a huge threat for a long time (aside from speculation if he could be revived/reused or not).

The rest of his body was mostly intact, but it did land beneath the giant tower structure.
Also, I wouldn’t really go with dungeon tokens being hard canon… I think lugging around bits of zhaitan wouldn’t be that healthy…
Only three of his largest tails (including some wings) were cut off. As Kalavier said, the rest was in-tact. Though his body lacks anything from the stomach area down (sans the tails), which makes him appear much like GW1 bone dragons (the lore for their missing lower body being that when they rose from their ‘graves’ they pulled themselves up with such force that the hind legs and tail were ripped off due to old rot and decay).
I also wouldn’t take the tokens as much canon – I mean, the Honor of the Waves one are freakin teddybears while the Citadel of Flames one is the motif of a Flame Legion giving the peace sign (or victory sign, funny how they’re the same).

Well, something else does get ripped off when he breaks free of the harpoons, but I couldn’t tell what it was besides seeing a chunk of something with a green blood trail falling.
When the electricuting harpoons end, his right (I think) giant wing/arm turns red and shrivvles up (this is why he cannot fly anymore, other than lack of tails for steering). I don’t recall any body parts ripping off – just a bunch of “blood” exploding out of his body (basically seems like internal explosions).

I think the important question is whether the writers would want to bring back Zhaitan. Because writers can always come up with a way of bringing someone or something back from the dead if they want to.

Sometime soon I’ll look it up or do arah storymode, but I believe it was at the end of that cutscene, or gameplay that you could see it. It was a little detail.
What if a new dragon of undeath were to rise in place of Zhaitan, maybe Tequatl was busy evolving into the next Zhaitan when he was killed. Maybe somewhere there’s another former champion of Zhaitan waiting to rise, much like how there’s always a new Shatterer or Claw. Maybe all we can do is delay the inevitable.
