one day i browse through the wiki and read the story of great flood of lion’s arch and then I read the following passage:

The Order of Whispers also contributed to the continuation of human knowledge when Lion’s Arch was flooded, threatening the great library within the city. The Order rescued thousands of ancient scrolls, books, and other historical artifacts, carrying them to a hidden monastery in the nearby Shiverpeaks. Stored far above the rising waters, these antiquities remain the only true records of the ancient age of humanity. The monks of that monastery are part historian and part warrior, studying and protecting their sacred charges.

keyword: monastery, shiverpeaks, monks, historian

Although not directly referred to Durmand Priory itself, it is clear enough that the monastery in shiverpeaks is in fact the Priority, so is it possible that that the priority was actually founded by OoW or at least help the establishment of it.

Sorry to disappoint, I know you wanted Konig, but…

The Durmand Priory was founded in 1105. Lion’s Arch flooded in 1219. You cannot say that because the Order decided the Priory was the best tool for preserving human history after it had been around for a hundred years, they must have had some hand in founding it.

Interesting fact, though- in GW1 we see Durmand attracting a small cadre of students, which I always thought of as the beginning of the Priory. One of those students was a member of the Order of Whispers.

As an addendum to Aaron’s post:

The Movement of the World is the original “set up lore” for GW2. A lot of it has been changed, including but not limited to:

  1. The dates of Jormag and Zhaitan’s risings being switched.
  2. The death date of Ventari and the birth of the sylvari race (the later changed by roughly 75 years).
  3. The portal in Lion’s Arch being opened by Balthazar (remnants of this remain in-game, though, unlike the other things signifying that the portal’s removal was a more recent bit).
  4. The origins of the Durmand Priory.

Yes, that excerpt was indeed referring to the Durmand Priory, however the origin story has been changed form being named after Durmand but not founded by him, to being named and founded by him. However, there is an NPC who claims Durmand was the one who rescued tomes and texts from Lion’s Arch’s flooding which would place him at an incredibly old age (he used an old man model in GW1, and the flooding happened 150 years later).

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Oh I did not realise the movement of the world was not necessarily correct anymore, is there a list of what has been changed from it?

Not really. There’s not a lot of inconsistencies, pretty much those I mentioned are the biggest there really are.

Alternatively, Durmand could be like Magi Malaquire…

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

Unless Durmand is older than Malaquire, or he’s now in hiding, I find that unlikely given how I believe it’s said that he’s dead.

Just an FYI, IIRC after having read the new SoS book – the Priory in the Shiverpeaks was not the original headquarters of the organization. So it is entirely possible that the OoW did indeed recover and ship these texts from LA to the Priory monastery in the Shiverpeaks after LA flooded.

The quote you’re remembering: “I’ve heard of you lot. Refugees from Lion’s Arch, hiding up there in the mountains with salvaged books and things. Odds and ends.”
