Dwarves
Nope its can’t. from what i remember of the lore by going the rite, the Dwarf transformed into immortal stone which in turn altering the consciousness which make the all into one (The Great Dwarf) itself. i don’t think they are coming back.
Well, did Ogden really have any kind of hive-mind attitude?
Also, the sylvari are all united by the dream, too, and they don’t act like zombies.
I think they could be made playable, but they wouldn’t look like your typical dwarf. ArenaNet said they didn’t want classic races, and I support them at that.
I would do this to make them playable:
After suffering many losses against Primordus, and being unable to grow their numbers, the dwarves started to forge themselves better bodies. Eventually, they even discovered they could tie their souls, as well as the dead dwarves’, into those same bodies.
Result: Their bodies have a dwarf silhouette, but they’re actually some kind of floating pieces of metal, diamonds and iron, united by some magic glow inside them. Kinda like leaving armors, and you can see the holes in their bodies. Golem/Elemental/Construct style. Their eyes would be holes with floating gems
They would build special anvils, and they would take back to life dead dwarves there, as well as repair and reforge themselves with better body parts (lore-wise, wouldn’t let you modify). The equipment would go over their armor-skin.
Resurrecting dwarves from before the Great Dwarf could prove dangerous and chaotic, so it would be banned. Wouldn’t work well because those dwarves died as flesh, not as stone.
Eventually, someone would reforge some Stone Summit guy, that would go insane because of the side-effects of resurrecting flesh dwarves, and would start using the anvils for some evil purpose. They would beat Primordus’ forces, but they would slaughter other races, too, so we would need to stop them.
Just an idea :P.

Those of us who played GW1 where there, we saw what they did to themselves and it doesn’t look like there’s any coming back from that. However, the dwarves’ own legends state thet Great Dwarf created the dwarves at Anvil Rock, and since they effectively are the Great Dwarf now….maybe…O.o?
See this is the funny thing about lore…over time it changes. If ANet wanted to bring back dwarves, they could. They would just write them in. There is nothing in the lore that prevents them from bringing them back. The beauty of writing is that you can always write something new.
It won’t be a playable race – not until the elder dragons are defeated or sleeps again. Because, as was said above, when we were in GW1, the Great Dwarf created the dwarven race and if I am correct, that happened when the EDs were already hibernating.
And the dwarven race chose to become the Great Dwarf because of the EDs themselves. So until then, the Great Dwarf will always be with us, helping us in the sidelines.
As to the “hive-mind”, having a unified consciousness doesn’t need to be zombie-like. There are many examples of races in fiction that have a collective mind. Especially in this case, because they are the Great Dwarf himself, not exactly individual beings. The Ogden you talked to is more likely than not, just a former consciousness being used by the Great Dwarf so as to make it easy to non-great beings
Then maybe, after the EDs are killed or put back to slumber, the Great Dwarf will recreate the fleshy dwarven race, destined to go back into their stone form and resurrect the Great Dwarf again when the cycle of the EDs is getting close again.
a friend of mine told me (unfortunately) that there is a flesh dwarf inside the game, but since it’s the last one alive i don’t see how they will reproduce, maybe some spell could be cast or maybe that book of the dwarf that we found inside a cave has the secret to bring dwarfs back to flesh?

Wow, they live that long in GW universe too? In any case, that dwarf will probably cast the stone immortality spell sooner or later to help his brothers. Though of course we won’t see it. Or if we defeat the EDs before he has any need to, he may not need to cast it, and wait for the Great Dwarf to recreate the mortal dwarven race.
So if the great dwarf created the dwarves, and the dwarves all came together to become to great dwarf, then it seems to me like this process is reversible.

Yes, that is a possibility. The Great Dwarf and the dwarven race are just one and the same. They cycle. For all we know, they’ve been cycling that way everytime the EDs starts to stir and starts to slumber.
When you think about the Great dwarf in relation to dwarfs and the Pale tree with sylvari there are a lot of similarities.

This is what people forget. Personally, I really hope they bring Dwarves back.
