I’m watching a documentary on the Hawking Paradox, which essentially proposes that the universe is so complex, that we will never be able to understand it, and that science is simply wasting time and energy, trying to figure it out.

It just hit me that this is the Asuran religion. The Eternal Alchemy is the most absolute definition of complexity of the universe, and all Asura are determined to do all of the science possible to figure this out, but never quite get closer to it.

I’m high and drunk: this kitten blew my mind.
THAT IS ALL.

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

There is also a theory that it is actually more likely than not, that the universe is actually just a very complex computer simulation and we’re part of it.

This is based on the assumption that any civilization, given enough time would be able to create such a simulation, which given enough time would be able to create a similar simulation within their own simulation, and that it would be very unlikely that we would indeed be the first such civilization to exist.

Now THAT’s something to think about.

Personally I completely disagree on this, since we’ve figured out quite a lot already. And just lack the ability to increase our sample size at the moment. If humans figure out a way to travel outside our own galaxy, the potential to understand more increases. The idea to assume that something is too difficult to ever understand, without trying to understand it, is simply a position of ignorance. And I think every Asura would disagree with this line of thinking.

Asura would disagree with you. They are getting a lot closer than any of the other races. They have portal travel through the Mists! They have Fractal research! If anything, Asura’s are still discovering more and more. And that will never stop. Impossible to understand? Maybe to a Bookah.

What they meant is that there’s so many things to know that even the asuran civilization, with all their brain power, open mind, orthodox and unorthodox methods, falls short to understand the universe as a whole. The do understand a lot though.
But as someone said, the more you learn, the more you realize you don’t know.

it would take as long to figure out the meaning of the universe as it would an asura to punch an elder dragon to death
