Everything wrong with Scarlet
I approve of this message.
A fantasy of sci-fi cyborg implants grafted into the desiccated flesh of Guild Wars’ corpse.
That’s nice.

There is a lot wrong with her. But merely existing isn’t part of it. She just isn’t interesting as is and we got nothing about her except “she is an insane Mary Sue”. The issue is more ArenaNet’s way of spacing out the story with the Living Story updates.
Sorry ANet, but no one wants to wait months to get a paragraph-ish of lore and plot development. Movies can go on for months inbetween but they are their own plots more or less anyways.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

^This. Gone are the days of expansions, where we get a ton of new lore at once and it actually takes time to get through it. Now we get tiny pieces of content we rush through in a few hours.

A month ago I would have agreed with you. But after diving into the lore, I’m finding a ton of nuance to her background and I like her much more as a character.
There’s much more to her than the living story can convey in its cut scenes. The ‘What Scarlet Saw’ story gives a ton of insight about her past and who she is as a character. This video is an interesting look at what her story means from the perspective of a Sylvari. (Not my video; unfortunately the audio gets really bad)
I’m putting out a video this week that talks about her motives and how she (probably) came to work with the Nightmare Court.
