Q:
First to invent guns lore wise?
A:
This is going back a way and I don’t know where the exact quote is, but I’m pretty sure it’s been officially confirmed to be the charr, at least on the Tyrian landmass. They discovered gunpowder while poking among dwarven ruins, but while the dwarves never thought to use it as a propellant, the charr were a little more interested in the potential for weapons development and experimented with different ways of using it until they developed handguns and pistols.
That said, Cantha (or at least the Luxons) did have cannons as far back as GW1 – it seems they just didn’t think of trying to miniaturise them to something that could be carried by anything smaller than a siege turtle.

They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
There are canoons in Elona too, as far as I remember.

They have bombards, but I wouldn’t call them cannons per se. The Kournan ones are more like catapults, and the Vabbian ones are straight up magical. I don’t believe either uses gunpowder to propel their projectiles, though said projectiles are themselves explosive.
Guns and cannons are not the same thing.
Like Drax said, the first to use cannons (as far as we know) were the Luxons, while the first to have guns were charr (whom got blackpowder from dwarven ruins we’re told).
We never saw cannons outside of Luxons in GW1, though there are cannons used by Foefire ghosts, though how much hold this has on “what they had” over “what they’ve copied since” is unknown – but the latter doesn’t make much sense with the whole “reliving the last day of their life” situation.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Cannons are guns, just not in household vernacular where “gun” means handheld. In the military or dictionary, gun means something else entirely.

Still not the same thing. :P
It’d be like saying the charr Shaman caste and the Flame Legion are the same thing (fun fact: they’re not).

A Bladestorm or something isn’t mistakable Shaman caste. I think a better analogy of guns and cannons aren’t the same meaning would be saying broadswords and swords aren’t the same thing.
This is getting bizarre.

Well, we know the one aide to Adelbern made maps of ascalon city AFTER the foefire and scattered them in the wind.
And unless a lot of the henchmen/trainers died before the foefire (and got placed in the catacombs), you could imply they died in the foefire, then the ghosts actually buried their bodies… but that’s getting into the weird bit.
@Fluffball: I’m actually referring to the fact that for a long time it was commonplace perception that all of the shaman caste were of the Flame Legion – and vice versa – since the Flame Legion ruled over the charr… and so did the Shaman caste.
In actuality, the Shaman caste is just a group of shamans from all four legions.
@Kalavier: The difference between the maps and the cannons is that the map was physical and written by a ghost not affected by the Foefire. In the latter case, there’s actually hints of Kasha being unaffected by the Foefire… And iirc, Stephan had a white ghost appearance, rather than the typical Foefire-blue. It wouldn’t be surprising if some ghosts – such as Vassar and Relena – were buried (since those two actually have coffins). Given that it seems only ghosts are seen as what they are by those affected by the Foefire and we know there were a lot of restless spirits in Ascalon both before and after the Searing, it wouldn’t be surprising if some of the ghosts in Ascalon are, in fact, non-Foefire ghosts.

I might be mistaken, but I believe I remember Rytlock saying that the four AC sub-bosses were all still alive when the Flame Legion stormed the city.
EDIT: “The Sorcerer-King Adelbern had four great champions when the Foefire struck.” Thank you, Jelle! So bizarre as it is to say, Vassar and Ralena where either buried after it, or had had their crypt prepared in advance (the more likely, in my opinion).

But it sounded like his closest advisor thought the forefire was drastic and insane… I don’t think others would agree with Adelberm. Having the tombs prepared in advance for the foefire seems… out there. Though the necromancer seemed aware and actually semi friendly until Rytlock attacked :P.
Not in preparation for the Foefire, but the writing had been on the wall for anyone to read for 20 years. It was a given that they would die in the war, so it’s not too far out there to think they might have had their tomb prepared and waiting- it’s a bit of a pointless extravagance, but on the other hand, they must have thought that it was the only lasting thing they’d leave behind.

This is correct.
If Charr created guns, then why can’t I use guns with all charr regardless of its class ?

You can; charr have a racial skill called Hidden Pistol. <:
I’m torn between being chuffed at getting officially backed by a red post, and concerned that only a small portion received said backing. :P

It also explains Rytlock’s pistol, for those that were wondering.
