Q:

Hey guys,
i just finished an arah p3 and i want to ask u something.
after killing Giganticus Lupicus the npc said “maybe we can save her or his brothers and sisters” in german.
Does anyone know where they are?
I guess that they are the crystal desert because a npc in the Durmand priory ,who is researching into the G – Lupe, says he found the proof that the G – Lupe got wiped out by the Elder Dragons 11000AE after he was in the crytal desert and found bones.

Is there more information about them and what are your thesis?

PS: the npc is called Scholar Stinn

That’s pretty much it. In Guild Wars 1 we find the bones of Gigantus Lupicus all over the Crystal Desert (along with the remains of other creatures). But they are all extinct as far as we know. The lone one that you encounter in Arah, seems to have been resurrected by Zhaitan (I’m not sure if he is undead), and it seems like a young specimen (because they are normally bigger). There are no indications that there are more like it still alive today. As far as we know, they are all extinct. So I’m not sure what the German dialogue is trying to say.

I don’t recall such a line in the English version so it’s likely just a translation error, given I cannot see how one may be able to save an extinct species.

Or, I should say, group of species. The Giganticus Lupicus, as it turns out from the latest GuildMag interview, refers to a group of large species. This includes the dog-like giant we see in Arah as well as the two different kinds of large skeletons in the Crystal Desert (and elsewhere in continental Tyria and Elona). The dog species is not the same as the other two (skeletons are way different) and nothing really supports it being a young version despite the GW2W’s claims – though Anet doesn’t deny it as a possibility because they had to keep the creature “small enough” to reasonably fight in the dungeon, but why it’s small compared to the other bones is just simply left unanswered (different species for sure, but may or may not be a youngling).

BTW, it’s not 11,000 AE but “11,000 years ago” or “in 10,000 BE” – though said date is only an estimation on scholars’ part.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I played the german version and I can’t recall this line either. However I only played it 2 times, with a rather nervous group, so there wasn’t much time to look around and pay attention to everything.

That’s strange. In the english version she says something along the lines of “Such a titanic creature leashed to Zhaitan’s will.” She is also called Warden Illyra in the english version…

Now that’s more along the line of what I remember!

I can guarantee you that she says that in the german version in p3. I played this path a lot but im not sure about the other npcs.
Maybe its a translation error but it has to be a very big one.

Well whaddaya now, today I did Arah as I always do, and I paid attention to this part specifically.

“A pity. Such a titanic creature leashed to Zhaitan’s will” – the exact line she says, and right after that “Perhaps we could save it’s brothers and sisters, if they still exist.”

Never noticed that before.

Hey, I really wondered about the giganticus lupicus as well when I first met him in arah P1, If im not mistaken my NPC said something along the lines of (english version) “Lets just hope thats not the last of em” which also puzzled me for a good bit, right now ive just accepted that zhaitan had rezzed that one from the dead, untill I see more in game
