if I recall correctly, it has something to do the magnetic fields in that area.

Areas of high magical concentration are known to have two things usually:
1) Elementals (not always, but frequently, though it’s not a requirement for elementals to exist)
2) Floating and/or glowing stuff
The floating rocks are due to magic. Same with asuran structures that levitate.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
It can also occur in areas of high narrativium.

And on topic, rocks etc. float due to magic, for example Wizards Castle in Kessex Hills, which has even been magically moved between GW1 and 2, and is now a tourist attraction, apparently.
I thought it was due to magnetic influences too, but I can see magic working. and i really want to visit the Wizards Castle!
