I’m not sure if this applies to any other part of the Personal Story aside from the final step involving the Arah Dungeon.
I began leveling my character when the game released and got to level 47 before I took an extended break from the game. I recently came back with the Battle for Lions Arch Living Story and managed to level up super quick with it which was nice.
I recently got to level 80 and decided I wanted to finish off my Personal Story. I make it all the way to the final step “Victory or Death” and find out to actually reach the dungeon i have to either hope that a few people are doing the group events to allow an easier time of trying to reach the steps of the dungeon or hope that there is a group on the LFG Tool that allows Story mode and has already gotten to the way point.

There are so few people actually running around the game world doing events anymore and thus having the “steps of doom” holding you back because no one is interested in doing the very in depth event for the zone to open the gates is highly ridiculous.

Either the event in the zone should be changed so that it is no longer group dependent and can be soloed, or thin out the heard guarding the stairs so that those that come to this game after extended break periods or people just starting out are not blocked out of completing their Personal Story because no one does the Group Event anymore.

TLDR: I’m on the final step of my Personal Story and I cannot continue because no one wants to do the group event in the zone and I don’t want to waste hours trying to get a group together for the Arah dungeon to find out no one has access to the WP at the dungeon.

The group event isn’t necessary to enter the dungeon- you can just run to the waypoint. While I agree that the mob density is completely ridiculous, it is possible to run through, slightly easier if rather slower to carefully fight through, and fairly easy to do either of those with even just one other person. Just remember to stay away from the statues, make sure to dodge the catapults, and bring all the healing and condi cleanse you can, and you’ll make it through.

R.I.P., Old Man of Auld Red Wharf. Gone but never forgotten.

I tried fighting slowly through it but they are so tightly packed that dodging can more often then not pull another mob to to that you just don’t want.
At this stage I would just like the mobs to be thinned out unless the group event is active.

Meebo, take a look at this site: http://www.gw2state.com/temples.html

Look for a world in your region (EU/NA) on the list in which Arah says OPEN. This means the meta event has been pushed and completed on that server recently. Then go to character select in-game, press world selection and guest to that server. Now you will be able to go to the entrance of Arah without a problem.

I could run you through if we happen to be on around the same time. I usually don’t have any issues running through solo, though that may be because of my pet(s) being good diversions. Add me if you like.

You could also potentially complete the chain with a small party. I was in a random party that eventually built up to five (we hovered at around two or three for a while) that somehow managed to complete the chain and clear all of the events and bosses up to the dungeon. The last boss took some effort and was very close, but we made it with two or three people still on their feet.

I remember when the event chain brought us to the steps… we were all like:

“Uhh… doesn’t this usually take a zerg to complete?”
“We’re so kittened. We’re SO kittened.”
“Kitten it. Last thing I do before I go to bed. YOLO!”
