Proud player of Crusader, Arcanist,
Beastmaster, Shadowraider, and Shieldbearer Zakk!
I was recently scrolling the Guild Wars 1 wiki and was looking at the lore and ended up on the Guild Wars Beyond page. While on that page I was reminded that there were plans for more ideas in GW: Beyond after Winds of Change but since future content has been discontinued for GW1 that means there are a lot of untold stories for the characters that we interacted with over the years.
For example (taken directly from the wiki:)
-After Winds of Change, there were going to be “things people are going to be surprised by” that the Live Team would not discuss. (What would these ideas be!? I want to be surprised!!!)
-There were going to be Lunatic Court quests, unrelated to Keiran’s return or Winds of Change. Their attempts to free Mad King Thorn, as well as other activities during Halloween 2010 have attracted the attention of “someone else” looking to return to Tyria. The Nameless Lich was thought to have played some part in this. (The Nameless Lich didnt interest me at all but would Dhuum have tried to escape?)
-As part of the Elona chapter of Beyond, ANet suggested they would expand on the story of Palawa Joko and continue that plot thread, which was left dangling in Nightfall. (I would have loved to see Joko beginning his rise to power over Elona.)
-Another story idea included the disappearance of Evennia, last seen in Old Ascalon during the Krytan civil war. (Where did she go!?)
I would love to learn this stuff or at least what was planned. ANet released ideas that would have been used for the third expansion of GW1 that never made it why cant they release the information for things we will never get to see such as the things I listed above and some other things like: how exactly did our character’s story end? what did our heroes do after the fall of the great destroyer (we really only know about Gwen and Keiran and that Pyre’s grandaughter freed the Charr women from their miserable situation)
If any ANet lore-masters see this, please give me and others who love the lore and the stories put into these wonderful worlds some clarification of whether we will know what was planned for these stories or if there are books in game/ articles we can read on the wikis that give us this information!
-Thanks!
I am sorry to say so, but we have to accept that we will most likely never get the answers to those questions, seeing that GW1 is getting set to be more automated, to run without anyone working on it, basically. We will not get any further additions to GW Beyond and there weren’t even plans for an addition to GW2 until recently, so i would be surprised if they would just give us the answers to the questions that were left open in GW1, like you are asking in this thread…
It would be really cool to know more about some of those unfinished plot lines, and I think some of them could still be done in GW2.
For example next Halloween we could get more details on what really happened in GW1’s Halloween with the Lunatic Court plan and the nameless lich, why they never got it together (or maybe that they did off cameras but something bad happened and that’s why it has been 250 years ago since his last apparition) and see if they “try it again” bringing to GW2 what they intended to do during GW1 with a similar plot and quest lines than what they were going to do but adapted to the new game.
About Palawa Joko, given the dates where that happened and that we know what happens, it would’ve been pointless to do a campaign for that becase our characters would be at least grandpas and they would lose (because Palawa won).
Evennia’s plot line was definitely something that left many wondering and was never explained.
I think there is still room for it to get an explanation. Maybe a future update on the Ghosts of Ascalon situation reveals what happened with her (though the foefire happened 11 years after she went missing, maybe some ghost has details about her), or if we get to know what happened with Livia, maybe Evennia was involved at some point in that story. It could even be part of a future book (and yes, we need future books).

^— Well I think if they’re going to do any Lunatic Court stuff it will be this year. Last years Halloween did in some ways feel as though it was meant to establish Halloween as a concept for those unfamiliar to GW lore, the lunatic court we met did seem to have some greater motives and what not, so I imagine they’ll delve into that stuff this year, since they revealed the lore behind Mad King Thorn last year

I agree. I can see them using the GW1 Lunatic Court quest concepts that they didn’t get to use before. I think they did a great job with the King and the whole Halloween introduction into GW2. I’m sure they will build on it just as you said.
If we’re going to get anything from those plans, it’ll likely be in GW2 in some form. Ideas can always be recycled into new content.
