Guild hall crystal
There’s a lot of things that it could theoretically be. For some reason they make me think of the attunement stones used in Guild Wars 1 to attune the portal to the Henge of Denravi to the Shining Blade, but one thing to definitely note is that as it currently stands, both of the locations that have them were lived in by both the Forgotten and the individuals that eventually became Exalted (I think it mentions Guilded Hollow as the place where the ritual took place). So there is a very good chance that the crystals in he Guild Halls could possibly have some connection to Glint’s plan, or at the very least the magic of he forgotten.
Mechanically speaking, my main thought is that if a Guild vs Guild mode ever actually drops then the crystal will be treated as a victory condition. Instead of having a Guild Lord to defeat the enemy team would have to destroy or capture and hold the crystal.
From a lore perspective though, we don’t really know much about it. All we’re told is that it’s a place of power and the Mordrem are leeching magic from it to empower Mordremoth. Once we’ve taken it to deny it to Mordremoth then we don’t really do anything with it. It might just be another dangling plot hook that doesn’t have a set outcome yet but exists so that when Anet want to expand upon guild halls in another expansion or just in the fullness of time then they have a way to tie that into existing elements.
According to the A Study in Gold achievement, the Forgotten have been to both guild halls – and this crystal is the only similarity between them. Like Glint’s egg, the mordrem were also interested in these crystals. Chances are they’ll be shoehorned into Glint’s overarching legacy somehow, or ultimately forgotten… no pun intended.
But it seems their origins are Forgotten…. pun intended.
An interesting thing to note is that the crystals grow with the guild level – they change every 8 levels, with current max level being 64 iirc, where they grow to the point of going into the walls (at least at Lost Precipice), and also terribly lopsided to the left (facing the front of the crystal)/its right (it grows twice to its right then once to its left, as I’ve noticed). But the highest level is starting to look suspiciously like wing designs to me. Maybe I’m just seeing things there though.
@Narcemus: What’s mentioned is that the Forgotten performed “exalting rituals” at the hollows, which I think is the act of making things gold (seeing as how it’s not real gold and as we’ve seen in the Mysterious Cave, it plants were turned into gold too), not necessarily that the Exalted were made there. The wording implies this was before the Exalted became a thing, in fact.

So it seems like we’re essentially turning into the chosen exalted or something? I have noticed the wings resemblance, or horns I guess too. It would be cool if Glint’s egg winds up coming to our guild hall and hatching with a big dragon perched on the crystal. But I imagine that’s farfetched.
I didn’t realize it was confirmed every 8 levels, but it makes me even more excited to get these last 3 levels in our guild!
I’ve always wondered about the mysterious cave from the personal story too.
Where did that cave lead? Because on the other side the only thing it would lead to would be the forsaken thicket, but there aren’t really any exalted ruins in that area other than the vale guardian platform. So where did that archway and door lead unless it was specifically to that podium?
Are we going to come across more exalted and use their help to fight Lazzarus the Dire in the next raid wing?
I guess I can see what you are saying, that first segment does make I seem like this was stated before the humans became exalted, I just made assumptions based off of the wording of he term “exalting ritual.” Still, it’s possible the exalted could have some knowledge (or no knowledge whatsoever).
