Guild Wars 2

Dear people,

I don’t know for sure if this is the right place for my post but i don’t know where to put it elsewhere. I am new to Guildwars and i will start playing tommorrow. I love especially the pve parts of gaming. Is it neccesary to have played the previous Guildwars games to understand the storyline?

If you’re purely interested in the lore and story from GW1, I would suggest either going to the wiki and reading the articles for each expansion, or heading to youtube and watching the cinematics. Or both, if it tickles your fancy.

But whatever is the case, the whole game will make plenty of sense to you without the first game being involved. The first game, in that case, would just be like cool backstory to the game that you are currently playing.

You’ll have no problem understanding the GW2 story without playing GW1.

GW2 is set 250 years later, so the two games are pretty separate.

Playing GW1 would give you a broader sense of the lore and the history, but is not necessary.
