Have the Asura gates been identified?

Q:

Hi.

We pretty much all know the portentous sight of the broken Asura gates near the end of the ‘Our Story So Far’ trailer (see attachment). Most people seem to take this as an implication of an imminent attack on LA. While I am not against the hypothesis that LA is in danger (the evidence Scarlet’s lairs seems to point in a similar direction) I am still not convinced that the Asura gates we have seen in the video are actually the ones from the Great Hub Plaza.

I spent some time near the gate hub in and it seems to me that the positioning of these gates do not match the gates depicted in the video. The broken gates in video seem to be more or less parallel to each other, while gates in LA are at a slightly shifted angle.

So, has actually someone positively identified where in the game these gates are, if they are currently present at all? A screenshot reproducing the picture from the video is highly appreciated.

The only place currently in-game these would work is LA, if and only if the pillars of rock the LA gates are on are shifted (which given the destroyed nature of the gates, wouldn’t be unlikely).

So it is either a destroyed LA, with those pillars shifted thus making the angle look “not LA” – or it will be Edge of the Mists or some other places not yet in-game.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

the edge of the mists doesn’t have asura gates, so not that.

the ready up episode earlier today also confirmed that hardly anything living story-related will be on the edge of the mists map.

Rata Sum has areas with Asura Gates in close proximity to one another?
Also given that the gates are destroyed it’s quite possible that one has rolled or fallen sideways – which could support it being either LA or Rata Sum.

Yes, but they aren’t staggered like that, nor on their own separate stoneworks. If it was Rata Sum you’d see the edges of the cube extending from the bottom of the gate.

Not them unless what’s above them and the nearby college roofs are destroyed completely, as the Rata Sum gates are all underneath arches or giant roots. Plus it’d be hard to slant those gates.
