Hey, so i have a really cool charr druid who is all space and celestial looking, and i’m working towards Astralaria too! And my first issue is, at the moment he’s called Ace Swiftpaw, which although i think is a decent name, it’s no where near cool enough and doesn’t really suit how he looks. So the first thing i want help with is his name?

The second thing, and the reason i’ve posted here, is that i need help coming up with a backstory to him, something that relates to the lore maybe something that explains how he has these celestial powers? I don’t know if there’s a god of cosmos or something in the lore of this game, but that would be so cool if his story or name was related to that? I’d really appreciate the help

Ace Starpaw

Well there isn’t a God of the Cosmos. The only recognized “Gods” in game are the Human Gods. This wouldn’t work because Charr look down on God-worship, and are especially disdainful of Human Gods. The other races, Charr included, view Human Gods as beings who became powerful, but who aren’t really divine or worthy of worship.

So, perhaps your charr could find a powerful celestial artifact or armor that imbues him with magic.

Or, perhaps he was captured and experimented on by the Inquest asura—they could have been studying cosmic power and its effect on people—and the experiments turned his flesh into living magic or something

Maybe he sought out and was blessed (or cursed) by the ancient Druids of the Maguuma Jungle. They’re not Gods, but they are very powerful nature spirits.

Maybe he is a scholar/researcher who has learned a new way to channel his magic, which other people haven’t discovered.

As for names… maybe Arcius Moonbrow? or Aceius Starpelt?

Well, remember that charr last names are composed of two parts: one part is common among the whole warband, and the other is distinct to them. So what “Swiftpaw” part of the Swift warband or the Paw warband? It doesn’t even have to matter; nothing says he stayed with that warband, or the Identity Repair Kit (which I assume you’re using) could completely rewrite his history. However, that might help in deciding how you want your charr to sound now.

Now as for how he got those powers is a more interesting question. There are lots of relics scattered over Ascalon he could’ve stumbled upon, or perhaps it was something in the Maguuma. All the old druids had mysteriously ascended, became the ghostly tree forms we see in GW1 and 2, so perhaps he tried to follow this ritual and got caught partway through. Or, since crafting Astralaria is one of the long quests, one of those steps to craft Astralaria will inspire you in just how he gained his powers. Perhaps Astralaria itself is what granted him the power.
