How Wynne entered Forgotten Cave?
she had a forgotten seal, so she didn’t need divine fire and whatnot to bypass it, since the seal is the “key”.
as to where she found that seal, we don’t know.
They don’t really explain the reasoning behind the PC getting the seal after the mission is complete. I looked at it as more of a flavor item and promptly tossed it. In my eyes, Caithe still has the original.
I was wondering about this as well as how Wynne found out about the sylvari connection to Mordremoth.
Feryl Grimsteel (Charr Engineer)
Tarnished Coast
I was wondering about this as well as how Wynne found out about the sylvari connection to Mordremoth.
it was her Dream.

“We came from the jungle dragon cause my Dream said so.”
They really couldn’t come up with anything better.

They did. You missed a lot of detail there (try chatting with all the NPCs whenever you get the opportunity during any LS episode). Wynne was the first (or one of the first) Night blossoms. They are the ones who see those dark secrets (read: truths) of the world that others do not see (read: are not meant to see – look at what a mere hint of it did to Faolain’s mind). Caithe realizes that it was Wynne’s Wyld Hunt to protect the Sylvari (at least those borne of the one known Mother Tree) from this one particular truth, that they are tied to the jungle dragon. In many ways, this truth has only really manifested as a result of those who experiment with dragon magic for personal gain (power). They rip the magic out into the open and then, if they are the “appropriate” type of creature, become servant to it against their will.
It’s kind of easy to understand how Wynne finds a Forgotten Seal after realizing that the Forgotten once inhabited all of Tyria, long before Humans arrived there and took over. As Sylvari are masters of the land, they can probably sense these things – magical things – long before any mechanical excavation by other races ever could.

Psh, that “She was the first Night bloom which is why she only knew it” garbage. Sure, you can buy that…if you’re willing to forget the previous lore regarding the Dream.

So now the Dream, instead of being a vast subconscious/collection of the sylvari/Pale Tree’s memory, now suddenly has a will and whim of its own to give certain sylvari certain memories (which doesn’t even make sense when you consider that the Pale Tree’s seed had been planted long after the previous Elder Dragon rising, thus she wasn’t there to see it, let alone the sylvari, so it shouldn’t even be part of their memory to begin with).
By that logic, Trahearne should’ve also known they came from Mordremoth, since he’s the first sylvari from the Pale Tree. Caithe and Malomedies should’ve also known already, since they’re Night Blooms. Fair enough?

Would’ve been nice if the Dream hadn’t given her this knowledge to begin with so she’d end up dying to keep it a secret till now.

Um, no. It got out because Caithe swiped the egg with no explanation like an idiot, and the memory seeds we got from the Pale Tree showed up the events leading up to the reveal. Nothing to do with the Inquest (at least I presume you’re referrring to them, as they’re the only ones experimenting with dragon energies, and if they already know the connection, they haven’t been talking).

….source please?
Oh well…it doesn’t change that the whole “Sylvari came from Mordremoth” thing was a crappy reveal.
It always did have an implied will and whim of its own. After all, it is the Dream that gives out Wyld Hunts – and this was always what the source of the Wyld Hunts were.
In contrast, then, one can argue that the Nightmare is the source of Dark Hunts.
The Dream existed before the Pale Tree, I’m fairly sure she outright states such. She didn’t create it, she doesn’t control it. She is its caretaker – but not always so, obviously. The truth behind the Dream is a mystery still even to the Pale Tree – and this is explicitly stated in A Light in the Darkness.
By that logic, Trahearne should’ve also known they came from Mordremoth, since he’s the first sylvari from the Pale Tree. Caithe and Malomedies should’ve also known already, since they’re Night Blooms. Fair enough?
Not all sylvari share the same Dream experience.
Wynne knowing because it was knowledge deep within the Dream makes sense – the whole “was the first Night bloom” is unnecessary extra baggage.
What is questionable is how no one else ever found out, especially since Caithe finding out would be a massive emotional feeling, which are the most likely memories to fall into the Dream.

Source that the Forgotten were all over Tyria? That’s THE first piece of lore we learned, from History of Tyria, Prophecies’ manual. They held custodianship over Tarnished Coast, Kryta, Cantha, Crystal Desert, Blazeridge Mountains, and more.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
I may be wrong, but I think Nilkemia was asking for the source for sylvari functioning as magic detectors, something I too am curious about.

Page 26 it seems:
“From the Tarnished Coast in the west to the Bay of Sirens
(now called the Sea of Sorrows) in the south, from the
far eastern reaches of the Crystal Desert to the Giants’
Basin on the northern coast of Kryta, Tyria flourished
under the protection of these mystical creatures. The
serpents were the protectors of the land, the keepers of
knowledge, the teachers of all things, and during their
time the world was in balance.”

Correct. Admittedly I didn’t type that out well. While I am aware that the sylvari can sense things about plants and animals, and possibly about the terrain they are on to some extent, finding a magical key for a Forgotten barrier is a whole different story, unless being the first Night Bloom just gives you the power to find long lost Forgotten keys too.
I can only speculate is that she found that either before or during her time with the centaurs, or that one of them had it and gave it to her. Although, compared to all the things that don’t make sense for this part of the story, that’s rather minor anyways.
