How did Scarlet make Mordremoth awake?
Because the flow was interrupted so he got less magic.
Because the flow was interrupted so he got less magic.
Makes perfect sense, but everywhere I hear the opposite.
From our understanding, the sleeping of the Elder Dragons was forced this last awakening. Basically the Seers took away all of the magic in Tyria and the ED’s were forced to sleep in order to keep from starving. When the time came to awaken again (when there was enough magic back in the world) they needed magic fed to them in order to rise. This was the job of the Great Destroyer for Primordus for example. We do not have any info on how the others rose, though. I would say it is likely (because of the every 50 year time schedule) that the re-routing of the leylines was used in order to allow Mordremoth to awaken earlier than he was supposed to.
That map is important in my theory as to what happened. Look at all those holes that are dark and empty of any blue stuff. What Scarlet did was drop a the breachmaker into a lake of blue stuff that wasn’t going anywhere, sending the blue stuff down those dark pipelines. One of those pipelines leads to Mordy and the influx of magic was enough to wake him.

@Zomaarwat: Given the whole shining of blue that gets sucked into Mordremoth’s maw, it’s not less, but more he got.
@Dirame: That’s the Order of Whisper’s Threat Assessment Board. It doesn’t monitor ley lines or the like (ley lines are a rather new discovery), but threats, and is not an actual representation. Furthermore, that’s concept art, the in-game version doesn’t have black holes and lines.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Making it get a sudden massive influx of magic would very likely wake it up, simple because they are “programmed” to wake up in order to consume magic when the amount in the world is high enough.
Mordy most likely assumed that this sudden influx meant that its “services” were needed once more.
What I do find a bit scary about that though, is the fact that it might mean it will wake up quite a bit more powerful than the rest of the Elder Dragons, due to that massive power-boost.

I’d say it’ll probably be like a Zhaitan scenario. The time period between his awakening and the following invasions was much faster than the time period for the other ED’s. This is likely because of the fact that Zhaitan was in an area where there was ample magic to consume, and a multitude of corpses to corrupt. He basically hit the jackpot upon awakening, minus waking up with a Bloodstone as a pillow…. Because of this, I have a good feeling that Mordremoth will start acting soon. That and the fact that the best time to hit a target is when it is weakest. It is best not to let Mordremoth find the time to create an army and attack Rata Sum.
