How does Rytlock know? (spoilers)

Maaaggiiicccc?
Or….
All joking aside, he was in the mists, and the mists is a unpredictable place. Maybe when Mordremoth awoke fully shockwaves of his energy went into the mists and Rytlock was attacked by Sylvari there?
Maybe someone told him about it when he got back.
Many possibilities. That is a trailer for what is likely half of the HoT storyline if not more. So it isn’t a simple “he’s returned and instantly knows the sylvari are turned”. This line likely comes about after he’s seen the Pact Fleet devastation and is his statement on trusting sylvari when such is approached to him.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
I don’t think that is Rytlock that was shouting it. But i may be wrong.
But if it is him, then there is a storyline loophole when Sylvari players speaks with him. We already know he trust us players in the living story. But the problem is, how the hell is this not a double standard when it comes to other Sylvari? He is shouting to say the Sylvari are no longer allies, yet we who mained a Sylvari can still talk to him? Doesn’t make any sense to me.
Also, another loophole is if the Grove’s Sylvari are supposedly immune to Mordy’s influence, why they turned on the Pact at that final battle in Point of No Return? Why didn’t the army of Tyria attack the Grove first? Or Rytlock lead the Charr to attack the Grove?
He knows because bad writing. Just like the writing for the stupid twist in the first place.
I’m really excited to see Rytlock’s role in the story this upcoming season!
“The jealous are troublesome to others, but certainly a torment to themselves.”
@Drygan: It was Rytlock, for sure. Also, we don’t know how he will react to sylvari players in Heart of Thorns. He may be outright vocally hostile like he was with Logan; he may even fight sylvari players.
Also, it’s pretty blatantly clear that The Grove’s sylvari are not immune to Mordy’s influence. Scarlet and Aerin were both from The Grove, after all. The corrupted sylvari didn’t attack the Grove first because they weren’t corrupted until the Pact took flight (or so it seems), and not all sylvari in the Pact were even corrupted.
Rytlock hasn’t led the charr to attack the Grove because he hasn’t returned from the Mists yet – again, the trailer has not happened. For all we know, Rytlock will lead an assault on the Grove. We may end up having to fight and kill Rytlock – again, for all we know. Which is next to nothing (part of the reason for the pre-purchase backlash).
@Nilkemia: Given that Rytlock hasn’t stated not to trust sylvari yet in the story, it isn’t necessarily bad writing – we just don’t know the story behind it.
Saying it’s bad story writing is like saying a preview for a movie which shows Character A trusting Character B and then hating Character B in the same preview to be ‘bad writing’. It’s a preview.

Actually, those are mutually exclusive.
Rytlock doesn’t strike me as the type to hold a blanket prejudice (and even as he whined about being weak for trusting a human in Logan he became a big part of the truce faction). It would be logical to be very wary however due to the corrupting influence.
Rytlock for Pope!

Who knows what Rytlock experienced in the Mists?
I do know that when the PC experiences the mist-machine (Omadd’s), they see the eternal alchemy, and dragons, and such. The dream also seems to be a part of the mists, and the shadow of the dragon shows up there. From what we’ve seen, I wouldn’t be surprised if the dragons have a tangible presence in the mists.
It’s a trailer, and line are put in to build up hype. Ever seen a movie trailer and heard lines and scenes that never made it into the movie? Darkness Falls was one such movie, as I remember one scene from the trailer, and thinking “I need to see this movie to see how that plays out” watched movie, said scene was not in the movie or the accompanying dialog. I wouldn’t put too much weight in the trailer for facts about the story.

Maybe some sylvari attacked him and were possessed by Mordremoth saying something like “Vines will find way to your heart.” just like with Zhaithan and his minions
Ohh, I have an idea. The Mists is sort of a place of afterlife for the people of Tryia. Maybe, Rytlock some how met Glint there and told him of what is happening. After all, the makers of the game said that we would be looking for Glint’s legacy in the Magumma Jungle. So, I wouldn’t be surprised. Glint also could have told Rytlock about him about Sohothin and the Sylvari’s fate since she was a seer/oracle.
