Oh, I don’t know about that. The bandits in the PS have a deal of flavor to them, and the arcs have a fair bit of intrigue to them, political and otherwise. It’s not really fantasy, but it does bring in elements of mystery and maneuvering, and maybe even a hint of crime drama, that other race stories lack. Comes down to whether you like that sort of thing, sure, but I wouldn’t say it’s objectively worse.

The thing about the human PS is that it has a lot more subtleties to it. Chances are you won’t see these unless you do all six storylines and try to figure how they relate. Whereas the charr stories are fairly straitforward and doesn’t link to each other (much).

Plus, for all races you pretty much have a joke/non-serious story mixed into each set (Norn blacked out, sylvari All Things Have A Right, asura VAL-A golem, human circus) which don’t feel so dramatic or important lorewise, but mostly made to be more relaxing by their feel.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Here’s how I see things, the bandits from the human Personal Story seem to express a great deal of discontent with the current monarchy. And the 2nd chapter depending on what you chose could show you hints of possible futures for Tyria like the White Mantle becoming a major threat once again, Seperatists will acquire power, etc.

FOR SKYRIM!!!!!

If you think of the bandits as White Mantle cultists( which some are revealed to be) it becomes a bit more interesting. But I agree, the human story is a bit lacking in impactful plot and memorable lore charters( pretty much just Logan,Anise, and Queen Jennah over and over again). I feel like Anet could of handled the political intrigue a lot better(which is what sold the humans as interesting in the earliest blog posts),all of the human nobles come off as snobs and I get no emotional attachment to any of them no matter how many times they feature in the story.

It’s less of “some bandits are White Mantle cultists” and more of “the bandits, which at first appear to be highly disorganized and separate groups of individuals raiding Kryta, are actually a highly organized and mostly-united organization that is being puppeteered and financially backed by the White Mantle and certain Ministry members (Zamon and by bandit claim, Caudecus) who may or may not be White Mantle members themselves”.

Most bandits don’t seem to realize who their leaders are truly working for – and the White Mantle’s tendrils seem to reach even into the street gangs of Divinity’s Reach poorer districts (Two-Blade Pete using a hideout that bandits use which has what appears to be a neo-White Mantle symbol).

Funny though, there aren’t many Mursaat, if at all.

I know that we’ll be meeting with the Exalted in HoT and they look mightily like Mursaat but if they’re one and the same why change their name at all?

Maybe they are a faction of “good mursaat”, similar to how the charr have a “bad” legion?

It’s possible, but it’s just as likely that the cult simply outlived their gods. You mentioned the Flame Legion- they’re if anything more fanatical than ever, but they’ve gone through at least three sets of deities. Arguably even the mainstream humans are like that, seeing as your average citizen is unlikely to see any direct evidence that the Six still exist. It’s not at all a stretch to say that the Mantle could still worship the Unseen Ones even if the mursaat are extinct, and it’d be very interesting if they’ve found a new patron.

Wasn’t it made very clear in GW1 that by the end of EOTN only one musaat was still alive and he was avoiding humans?

Then again they were called the ‘unseen’ gods for a reason…

It was only suggested, and even that didn’t pan out- we kill another seven after EoTN. All we know for sure is that at least one was still alive at the end of that game- whether it was just one or a dozen or thousands, we don’t know.

I think the primary reason why the name Exalted is used is to keep players speculating on who they are and what their role in the expansion is.
