Once you complete the Queen’s Jubilee meta achievement, you’ll receive a miniature Watchknight, modeled after the Queen’s new mechanical sentinels, to follow you into battle.”

Regardless of it just being a mini, seems like humanity is catching up technologicaly to the charr and asura with their newest “robots.”

This might be really interesting considering how they deliver the lore about clockwork mechanisms and how do these “robots” work, and of course, how did humans came around it all. If they’re going to be able to prodcue armies of them or not, it could vastly improve the odds in their favor. If they’re effective in combat of course, they could drive off the centaurs slowly by the simple rule of humans not taking casualties or reducing them, and centarus slowly dying out, regardless of reinforcements. This could, as well, be used against Elder Dragons.

I guess we will have to wait and see!

It seems we now have two topics on this subject. They should probably be merged.

To me it seems humanity’s schtick is the extreme application of an existing techbase. They have slower progression, but more refinement of existing tech. Asurans have fast progression, while charr have fast production.

Against magic devouring Elder Dragons, and their minions, throwing magic in their direction isn’t a smart idea.

The war with the centaurs is over. Didnt you notice after harathi hinterlands they just fell off the map? You actually defeated them there, the story was just told through the dynamic events instead of the personal story/living story. The centaurs are still just there because they want everyone to experience the war. Just like all the risen didn’t disappear after the first person defeated zhaitan.

@Rainbow Actually every NPC confirms that this war will be for long NOT over.
ok, we are pushing them back out of Harathi Hinterlands (and other regions) but they are retaking those positions – because simpy they don’t have a place to go out there….

We knew that previously – there are events in the open world and personal story that make it abundantly clear that the bandits, or factions among them, are working with the centaurs.

The gist of the response is that the centaurs would be there regardless, but the conspirators (who have also been sabotaging the Seraph) have made them a much bigger problem than they would otherwise have been..

we’ll have to see if those sentinels are worth a kitten or not. would be interesting to see humans as a middle ground between asuran magitech and charr steampunk war machine. after all, humans’ only trumph is “versatility and adaptability”, so it wouldn’t be far off to imagine them learning from every race and coming up with a jack of all trades version of their technology.

My point is that no matter how you want to bend it from a story point of view, “wars” in MMOs will never end, because it would not make sense game-wise. Massive zone-wide changes would take too much resources and so far only WoW has done it, and even that was only for vanilla zones.

Southsun had pretty massive zone-wide so far permanent changes to it with The Secret of Southsun release. Living World makes stuff happen, it seems, don’t expect everything to stay same for all eternity.

Yep. Like Tuomir said, as we’ve already seen it’s pretty likely in GW2 with the living story going on.

Southsun is a “special” zone, much like the Labyrinthine Cliffs. Name me one big change to the original 1-80 level zones.

Risen in Orr have been gradually changed to look more decayed, and they at least seem to be less frequent.

The molten alliance is an example of a war that ended in Norn lands. It can come back later but this is how the living world works and is a great example of how things can change in any zone.

I wouldn’t call that a big change. Actually I think the statues are bigger. Compare to what Cataclysm did to the WoW vanilla zones and you can see what I mean with big changes. It took them a whole expansion to do it, though.

I’m not saying it can’t be done. Just saying it probably won’t happen unless in a big expansion, and even then I’d probably rather see new zones, as there isn’t really anything inherently wrong with the current ones.

I’m just saying changes happen, they just happen somewhat realistically, usually slowly but sometimes suddenly.

I think Cata’s main issue with development time was that the landscape had to change so drastically. With the living story, only political social climates need to change on the same landscape so we get to see a lot more of that change.

but by the idea of what “golem” is they could match as human try on this problem
most interesting thing for me is how they are operated
(we know why snaff’s golems needed a had :P)

that’s maybe just visual thing for mecha-army to look more familiar for humans, but it may be something in it

Maybe they are gifts to the queen by the wizard Isgarren and this is just the next step up to metallic elementals…

That would be interesting.

Through their alliance with the charr,the humans can gradually profit from the advanced charr technology.I bet there could be some creative Iron Legion guys out there who may be influenced by human intellectuals to bring their thinking outside racial war-themed inventions and develop some other cool techno kitten.Like droids that can be used against the dragon armies and more efficient charr-choppers for aerial warfare Maybe it’ll end up like the clone wars in Star Wars and the droids will be turned into Tyrian storm troopers by some Darth Charr and heeellooo Order 66.kitten no I hope there’s no Order 66,but you get the idea…things will totally heat up…plus we won’t have to deal with spam-F festivals every other kitten week.Also Caudecus is in a totally good position to become a Palpatine just sayin’ x_X

The difference is that Jennah and her allies are too competent for that, including being able to find out (if not to get enough evidence to prosecute, keeping in mind that Caudecus effectively has control of the court that would be trying him) what he’s up to.

But can his manipulations save him from assassins? Since many people came from Cantha it stands to reason a few were of the assassin profession and might even have trained the Shining Blade. Since the Shining Blade claim to be under the direct control of the Queen it stands to reason that should Caudecus become too much of a threat to the safety of Kryta then the Queen could have him simply assassinated by the Shining Blade.

Actually, the story with Serentine has very strong vibes of the relationship between Palpatine and Anakin before the day of Order 66.

When it comes to assassinating Caudecus – I think the problem there, which is one point of deviation, is that he’s the leader of an anti-royalist movement, not a single master and apprentice working alone. Kill him without undeniable evidence that he’s a traitor will just make a martyr out of him and let the rest of the movement paint Jennah as a tyrant who’s murdering her political opponents. He’s dangerous alive, but killing him may cause more harm than good.

Caudecus is a real problem for Jennah cause hes officially and publicly well liked. The people call him Caudecus the Wise. We know he is corrupt as hell but the majority of the population havent seen the evidence we have. He covers his tracks really well.

Jennah cant just kill him. Firstly if he is killed in such a way, or worse if an attempt fails to kill him, the first person everyone will suspect is Jennah and the Shining Blade. Secondly, killing him wont neccesarily solve the problem of corruption she is dealing with. Taking such a step and ignoring her own laws would just be asking to weaken her position.

I’m aware,‘WTF A DEATH STAR’ was my literal first impression of the core loading screen back when I saw it when playing my charr thief.
Anyways,that’s what I meant,Caudecus resembles Palpatine too much.The council would have faced a similar crisis if they found out that he was Darth Sidious before Anakin revealed him.I wonder what would happen if someone reveals Caudecus as the scumbag he is,and Jennah sends Anise and a couple of Shining Blades to arrest him,like Mace Windu was sent with Kit Fisto and the others.Hopefully,not what Lucas did…I kinda like Anise :/ But then again Anet probably forgot that they have Caudecus all ready to set in motion an epic story with all their festival affairs.
