I'm reading Edge of Destiny
Snaff, Macha, Kranxx, Eli, Efut, Taimi…
Almost every non-generic Asura character is wonderful, and some generics are amazing too…
That’s not my favorite thing about asura, anyway. :P
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

What I love about asura is how diverse they are.
Initially they are portraiyed as a genius or magitech-hyper-intelligent species
And then come a few asura who care very little about technological advancements and just want adventure or societal lives
One thing I’ve noticed about asura is that their narrative tone has a stark contrast to the rest of the game. Even their speech patterns are anachronistic, if you take the sort of formal fantasy speech of the humans or sylvari and compare it to how the asura speak. They’re naturally more comedic and imo that makes them very relateable.
Vekk was always my favourite. Plus he was voiced by Maurice LaMarche, so that’s an extra win.
Asura definitely dominate my character slots, they really are my favorite race.
I’m not sure I can pick a favorite, there are so many! Remember Smatti in Blacktide Coast who’s searching for treasure with two beer obsessed norn? Hilarious!

Tell me ur favorite things about asura.
Asura dominate my slots too. For me it’s their background story and the fact that I enjoyed the Tinker Gnomes from Dragonlance, and Jeff Grubb developed them, is just like an added bonus for me. Thanks for helping to craft the Asura Jeff. At any rate, if I had to pick one thing that is my favorite about the Asura it is the Colleges. I used to RP more back before the Megaserver and the Colleges allow for great diversity between toons for me. Speaking of which…
COLLEGE OF SYNERGETICS RULZ! OTHER SCHOOLS DROOLZ
I’m bound with Asura since the burial of Gadd. I almost cry every time I’m forced to watch this video.
All we wanted was a GvG.
I’ve been meaning to pick that book up. I’m about half way through Ghosts of Ascalon & absolutely love Asura. Is EoD a good read?
I think all the 3 books are good reads: fun, easy to read, exciting and lore filled. However, EoD is clearly weaker than the other two. Its more akin a really flashy action movie, with lots of fighting, many different environments, big heroes and bigger baddies all across the world, although not so great in the plot and caracterization aspect. Sea of Sorrows, by the other hand, is an amazing, beautiful book that can stand by itself among the upper caste of high fantasy works. It isn’t a masterpiece, but it is fairly close, and I gladly would put it next to Tolkien, Lloyd Alexander and Philip Pullman.

Edge of Destiny is poorly written, but full of interesting lore and is at least enjoyable from an action based point of view. It sets up a lot of characters. Think of it as a shallow, but fun blockbuster/Michael Bay film
Sea of Sorrows I found to be the most boring and uninteresting. It’s reasonably well written for a game tie in, but the main character himself is dull and bland and the story suffers as a result. The supporting characters are much more interesting. The rising of Zhaitan early on was the only interesting bit of the story for me.
Ghosts of Ascalon is by far and away the best of the 3 imo. I would love to see more of Dougal Keane in the game.
