I haven’t played Guild Wars 1, so I guess that doesn’t apply to me.

Ikr, I have no idea what he’s talking about. :P

I have a general idea about what he’s talking about. I researched a lot of the lore, so he’s pretty much just calling us traitors because the Charr we’re at war with humans in the first one whereas now they kind of get along.

Even though both Kryta and the Charr went through serious leadership changes….

But hey, he likes the madman Adelbern who was willing to, and DID, watch his nation die. Infact the only surviving ascalonians today are either A: those who left with Rurik (traitors), or B: those he exiled to Ebonhawke (Ebon Vanguard and a huge number of civilians who spoke out against him, or joined them for fear of the king)

May as well reply to this thread for the kicks and giggles. My humans then…

Leo Crowngarde - Human, Male, Noble, Guardian. Of mixed Ascalonian and Krytan Heritage.

The Crowngardes were a noble family in Ascalon Pre-Searing that followed a strict set of moral and national guidelines, such as not getting involved in politics, but instead serving King, Country, and the People, often in that order. The Patriarch of the Family always had final say. As per the Searing, only three siblings remained; Kain Crowngarde (eldest son, thus the new Patriarch), Ash Crowngarde (second born son), and Adele Crowngarde (daughter). While Kain adamantly backed King Adelburn, Ash backed Rurik. Tradition was broken for the first time in family history when Ash turned his back on his brother to join Rurik. Adele, unable to witness her siblings fighting so much, simply left, neither knowing where she went.

Ash Crowngarde made it to Kryta and eventually, after getting over depression due to the loss of Rurik, fell in love with a Krytan noble woman, and thus the Krytan Crowngardes came to be. Adele Crowngarde eventually resurfaced in Ebonhawk, had several marriages, many children, and only informed a few of their heritage, and only on her deathbed. There are many Crowngardes in present-day Ebonhawk who don’t even know they are such.

As for Kain Crowngarde, he stayed by Adelburn’s side until the Foefire, and he continues to fight the charr to this day. (I’d always intended to make something of a RP storyline with him coming across Leo and regaining memories and control of himself to go on a purge of the Krytan Crowngardes to restore purity and honor to the bloodline, but GW2 isn’t the most RP friendly of environments).

Loremaster Vexander - Human, Male, Commoner, Mesmer. Of primary Canthan heritage with Ascalonian and Krytan blood as well (mother was of pure Canthan descend, father mixed Ascalonian and Krytan).

A member of a little known clan of Mages, Vexander chose to be a Mesmer at a young age and relinquished his true name (Shu), for the name, ‘Vexander.’ His goal was to create someone immortal in the process, for when he died, anyone could pick up the name and mantle of, ‘Vexander,’ and continue that life. Sort of the ultimate metaphysical mesmer tribute.

For the most part, being a gentleman and a scholar, Vexander doesn’t focus on his lineage or heritage so much on what he can learn and how he can put it into action. He’s brilliant, but lazy, preferring to smell the roses and give others hints or instructions to do what needs to be done while he himself simply reads a good book with a glass of wine nearby.

Sorceress Elenie - Human, Female, Commoner, Elementalist. Purely of Ascalonian descent.

Elenie is a woman obsessed with magic to the point she would do anything to acquire more knowledge of magic, or magical artifacts. For a time she ran a store in Lion’s Arch that focused on selling magical goods, knowledge, and services, mostly to support her obsession. Her heritage meant nothing to her, and if she had been given Ascalon and a charr offered her a partially burnt scroll of a spell in exchange for it, she’d take the scroll every time in a heartbeat and without any second thoughts, nor any regrets. She’s associated with Charr before to go exploring ancient ruins and such in search of magical knowledge and power.

In the common day, she disappeared in the Mists. However, those who looked for her believe she’s discovered some secret that has allowed her to make contact with the various versions of herself from different Tyria’s, and to pool together their knowledge and power into a greater being in the Mist, known as, ‘The Sorceress.’ The cost of this feat is that she can never return to Tyria without losing all that power and knowledge, though she supposedly can send mesmeric illusions of herself given flesh and blood with necromantic magic back there, though of course never more powerful than she was when she first left.

It’s cool to see that so many people take an interest in their human’s ancestry, and how many trace it directly to their GW1 characters! I knew I couldn’t have been the only one.

My GW2 main (Pic 1) is the direct descendant of my GW1 main (Pic 2), an Elonian paragon who settled in Kryta after his adventures were over.

One day we shall reclaim our lands and drive the Charr back!
Ascalon Eternal!

This. The day is coming.

As for GW1, technically you could Ascalonian, Canthan or Elonian. The lost sister chapter of the PS let’s you choose one.

Of course I went with Ascalonian!
