Just finished listening to this: http://www.facebook.com/GuildWars2?fref=ts episode of MMO Reporter with Scott McGough and there were some interesting points regarding lore:

1. Lady Kasmeer and Lord Faren will be involved in the next story arc, on june, amongst other Divinity’s Reach nobles. Perhaps we will start seeing some White Mantle action?

2. Lady Kasmeer will be on future arcs, is a main character, along with a “business partner”. I’m not sure if to interpret this as she is NOT going to be the personal nemesis, or if she will, but not for now. Perhaps she’s tied to the White Mantle somehow.

3. Southsun Cove showed up on the recent past, according to Scott.

4. Regarding Canach: he is not evil, he feels the world owes him something and has his own agenda. Furthermore, it is stated he found something valuable on the expedition that originally went to Southsun Cove and he returned because an event motivated him to. Flame & Frost probably, since he has the Molten Gloves, must be tied to this.

5. Lionguard governs Southsun Cove, Consortium owns it. Lion’s Arch and The Consortium struck a deal for it when the latter approached them.

6. So far we’ve only seen Karka on Southsun Cove.

7. Plans to revisit Chauncey Von Snauffles (sp?) entire story, why he came second and who came first. Why Lord Faren was forced to run out of Divinity’s Reach after the riot.

8. And at last, we won’t see Southsun Cove again this year and there are currently no plans for next year either.

On 1: The next story arc is still on Southsun. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/may-28-2013/ Though it starts in May, it lasts til June.

On 2: I haven’t had a chance to get in game much (fear of laptop meltdown still), but from what I’ve seen and heard, she doesn’t seem to hold ulterior motives. That business partner is likely this unknown “Jory” fella I’ve heard about.

On 4: I think Canach got tricked into something by the nemesis… and given this “something valuable” bit, I think the nemesis was after this “something.”

On 6: But I saw Karka in Lion’s Arch, Kessex Hills, and Caledon Forest! :o Lies from Anet! Lies I tell you! :P

On 8: Eh, just as long as there are some lasting events. That’s all I need for Southsun.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

The fact that Canach was wearing Molten gloves was a dead giveaway that he’s somehow connected to the events of Flame & Frost. Perhaps the same “snake-nosed” person that encouraged the dredge and Flame Legion to ally in the first place approached Canach, gave him some gifts to seal their friendship, and then encouraged him to seek vengeance against the Consortium (while providing him the wildlife-aggression spores to do so).

Whoever this Personal Nemesis is, it seems like she’s intent on destabilizing the Tyrian continent. First by throwing the Norn and Charr regions into disarray, and now by possibly driving the Karka back to Lion’s Arch. Whether this is at the behest of one of the Elder Dragons (she is an agent or even a Dragon Champion in disguise), or a foreign power (a Canthan sleeper agent sent here by the Emperor to cause internal discord so that the invading army will have an easier time conquering when it gets here? Or a Mordent Crescent agent of Palawa Joko doing the same?), or even out of twisted personal reasons (an ancient Margonite survivor who still thinks she hears Abaddon whispering to her and carries out what she believes to be “his” orders) remains unknown for now.

Didn’t Anet already say that this has nothing to do with the elder dragons?

As far as I remember the only thing they said was that the FIRST story line would not show/introduce any dragon. We are no longer on the first story line though so it is fully possible that the Elder Dragons are tied in somewhere.
