Jormag or Kralkatorrik after Mordremoth?
I personally hope Kralkatorrik, just because we might be heading to the Crystal Desert. That, and the Pact were supposedly going for him before Mordremoth showed up.
Why are people so sure we will defeat Mordremoth in the foreseeable future? ^^
I am hoping for Bubbles/Steve.

Obviously, Bubbles is going to be coming up next, because if they moved onto Kralk or Jormag, that would mean they would actually have to start using established lore. lol

Ah yes, those massive amounts of a couple of sentences each of established lore, how would they manage that?

I am eager to see Jormag since I want to know what happened to Drakkar and former Norn territory.
Jormag is quite aggressive in the north, but Kralkatorrik is still recovering from its wound.
What wound?

It’s more than what most of season one and Mordy had. Because given the choice between expanding on the already known dragons and their effects and conflict on their victims (especially with the races in need of some expanding like the Charr and Norn), the writers seem to have liked to stick with newer subjects.
iirc when you first meat up with treaherne in the grove just before the meeting and the shadow of the dragon’s attacks he says the pact was planning to go after kralk next.
i was very happy with that statement because it fit with my predictions.
tl;dr: i think the charr would be much stronger overall allies than the norn and killing kralk would make the charr more willing/able to donate soldiers and resources to the pact
People keep asking ‘if the charr are such a strong military force why haven’t they finished of X yet?’ and the simple answer is usually that they are fighting on too many fronts now. the iron, ash, and blood legions seem fairly cooperative with the pact and by eliminating kralk while he’s presumably still weakened not only would the charr become more eager to support the pact they would also have one less front tying up soldiers.
while going after jormag would definitely make the norn happy, i’m not convinced they’d be as strong overall as the charr. while we don’t have clear population numbers that i’m aware of i’m fairly confident the charr outnumber norn several times (i’ll give my reason in a moment). while i agree that a single norn is supposed to be stronger on average than a char, they are also far less organized and have much lower tech.
DISCLAIMER: this next part is VERY apocryphal. i’m about to talk about information that i barely recall front a ‘letter to the fans’ from anet shortly after eye of the north was released in gw1. i’m not even going to try and dig something as ambiguous as that out, nor will i try to defend any information i claim to recall from it if it get’s questioned.
if i recall correctly anet talked about charr-norn relations in the letter stating that some warband decided they wanted to invade the far shiverpeaks. they were quickly met by a group of norn warriors. the ensuing fight was very feirce and (more importantly imo) very close. although the norn technically won it was by such a close margin that both races developed a firm respect for each other. the letter finished however by saying that simply due to charr vastly outnumbering the norn if even a single legion decided to make wiping out the norn their top priority the norn would be extinct very quickly (my memory says they said ‘within a week’ but i’m not going to pretend i’m confident in that statement).
between that letter and the fact that norn numbers probably took a very solid hit when jormag woke before they were wiling to retreat. the charr… while i’m sure they’ve had their loses i seriously doubt it would be enough to make a war with the norn too hard for them (barring the whole “fighting on too many fronts now” mentioned above).
though, there is stil the issue that the charr would still be heavily tied up with or without kralk, and the norn would have much smaller issues at home to deal with. I still think that it wouldn’t be enough to make them more appealing than the charr.
and for my final point i’m going to freely admit i may be a bit biased in favor of the charr simply because they are the only race i outright like, i’m indifferent to humans and sylvari, and i flat out dislike norn and asura.
p.s. this wall-of-text felt much shorter when i was writing it.
To me, it would logical for Jormag to be next after Zhaitan, so I found it a bit odd that they decided to wake up Mordremoth out of nowhere.
But seeing this thread, I thought: Why wasn’t Jormag after Zhaitan?
And then it hit me: because it’s too much work.
Jormag is far too important in the open world – for their Living World to work truly, what they add has to evolve… this means the tooth in Hoelbrak will break, the icebrood threat will lessen, etc. The high presence of risen already make it a bit of an iffy subject that people don’t know if Zhaitan truly died, and the excuse for story was “minions don’t die just because the Elder Dragon does” and the best players can explain why there’s still a “new incursion” in southern Kryta is “zones are stuck in time.” But that doesn’t fit the Living World!
So I don’t think Jormag will be next, simply for that fact. Kralkatorrik’s presence is less present than Jormag’s, but it’s still great. Mordremoth’s was non-existent, so they could add it wherever they wanted and get away with leaving it there because it isn’t a huge plot part for leveling up characters – there’d be little conflict between open and instanced world.
So I think the next dragon would be Primordus or the Deep Sea Dragon. The DSD has the least amount of influence in the open world, like Mordremoth, but it’s based far away and will focus on underwater combat which people hate – it’s obvious that ArenaNet’s policy is “avoid or remove that which players don’t like, rather than improve it first and foremost so that it is liked.”
Which means: Primordus is next.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
@Akbaroth This?
@Akbaroth This?
i’m going to assume so.
the letter i think i remember was much shorter, but at this point i’m probably just imagining things.
Let’s hope we don’t get an Afflicted Elder Dragon of Death and Shadow version of Kuunavang next…. And believe me it is possible considering Odgen’s theory that Elder Dragons can be replaced and the fact that the Am Fah worship the Affliction and can turn people into the Afflicted with the Chalice of Corruption even after Shiro has been killed.
Considering that Kuunavang was the first to be hit with the Affliction and how the Am Fah worship said Affliction we should hope that they never get the idea to restore Kuunavang to Afflicted state.
Didn’t we strip them of their ability to corrupt in WoC?
We did. In Factions we destroyed their original Chalice of Corruption, while in WoC we destroyed the blueprints, then we killed the person who made the blueprints.
Or at least, we gave the blueprints to the Ministry of Purity who claimed to have destroyed the blueprints. But given how gun-ho they were, particularly the one we gave them to, I expect they were destroyed – it would be a massive breaking of character if they didn’t.
Plus if you do all the quests in WoC (and let the peaceful Jade Brotherhood live), by the end of the storyline it seems like the Jade Brotherhood and Am Fah are finally putting aside their differences and their worst-of-their-ways behind them, giving them a chance to become freedom fighters against the MoP.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Kralk is next. The pact was already beginning the campaign to stop him when Mordy was awakened.
I am still not sure the Pact will actually survive the attack on Mordemoth ^^

I think it could go either way myself. I’d like to see Trahearne survive and get hit with a big case of survivors guilt.

And then have him turn around, go Nightmare, and become the next big baddie? No thanks. lol

Given the way the world has begun to revolve around the biconics, I wouldn’t be surprised if they killed Trahearne and wiped out the pact just so that the biconics can take the spotlight without any other plot threads showing that not to make sense.
