Jotun symbols glowing - DE
That would be http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Protect_Scholar_Dane_while_she_closes_the_portal
That event in Dredgehaunt Cliffs.
I would be inclined to say that it isn’t anything to do with Jotun magic since the event ends with a Veteran Fleshreaver coming through the portal.
It seems to me that there are quite a few odd little locations throughout Tyria where Fleshreavers are able to come through.

Of particular note is the line “Some have even been seen coming through portals leading to the mists.”
So I think it is perhaps part of something larger going on with the Fleshreavers, rather than to do with the Jotun. That is however just my own speculation.
Dialogue actually says it was jotun magic, iirc. Jotun magic making a barrier or some sort to keep the portal closed, I think. Been a while since I did that DE chain though.

Thanks for that guys. Going off my own topic @ Flamingfoxx yes the reavers and such seem strange to me. Saw a bunch of sprites in a cave in a different zone all circled aroung a large flat rock (Alter?) with a dead brood mother on it. Then when you kill all the sprites and perhaps? some associated totems as well a fleshreaver appears and you fight him. Not sure what that was all about.

I don’t see anything particularly noteworthy about that. The mists are the building blocks of reality and fleshreavers are real. Hell, I’d be worried if there weren’t any of them in the mists.
Presumably a good portion of them were wiped out in the menagerie, but (considering their life cycle) they’d be pretty kitten hard to eradicate completely. We can easily assume the practice of making fleshreavers still exists based on the graverobbing necro in Kessex with his fleshreaver pets.

Yes but do you know anything else that comes out of the mists…. The only other thing we know to have come from/through the mists are the Gods. SO i personally find it interesting that Fleshreavers are coming into Tyria in places of power/items of power from the mists.
Also, they weren’t made in the Menagerie, Rragar was simply trying to train them. We don’t know for certain where they come from, only that they were in Rragar’s Menagerie and the depths of Tyria in GW1, and now they’re coming through portals from the mists. It’s the fact that they’re coming through that is of note, not that they exist within the mists.
I didn’t say they were made in the menagerie, they were being domesticated, if you will, and that got shut down. The same portal that they come out of also spawns a ton of imps (which we’ve seen elsewhere), and I don’t see why fleshreavers coming out of the mists is a big deal.
We know they’re there, what’s wrong with a lil portal ride to Tyria? They wouldn’t even be the weirdest thing to get spat up from there, for instance Razah is basically protomatter from the mists congealed into a sentient humanoid form. He has basically no true parallel in the real world, yet the mists still managed to fill in a bunch of blanks and spawn him.
I’m sure it’s not too much of a stretch to assume the same process (albeit a simpler and much more likely to occur version of it) lead to the Fleashreaver population in the mists. And since they need dead bodies to grow, I wouldn’t be surprised if they found their way to Tyria in search of prey that a little more substance than the same old off-brand protomatter crap that makes up just about everything in the mists.

You don’t make fleshreavers. They make themselves.
They’re a living race – they give birth to skeletal infants and add dead flesh to act as their own non-existent skin.
Rragar Maneater was simply trying to tame these creatures. He did not make or create any. In Eye of the North, there were just as many Fleshreavers in the depths beneath the Shiverpeak Mountains than there were in Rragar’s Menagerie.

Titans, demons, anything you find in World versus World. Skale. Wind Riders. Dryders. Behemoths. Nightmares (aka “evil spirits” like Aatxes, Shades, etc.), souls.
There’s a kitten ton of stuff that comes from or thrives within the Mists, not just the gods.

Yes I know that. The point wasn’t actually that the gods are all we know that came out of the mists (they were simply all I could immediately think of at the time) but rather that it’s a pretty big deal when things do and quite often there is some kind of larger reason for these things happening, rather than ‘oh hey, I just strolled through from the mists’.
The Fleshreavers that come from the Mists do so at Godslost Swamp. No where else except possibly this above location, which has a sealed portal to the Mists (presumably the Underworld since that’s where the other fleshreavers from the Mists come from, as well as some imps).
It’s actually not all that usually a big deal when stuff comes from the Mists – it just means that there’s a barrier there. It’s stated several times that the souls of the dead (in GW2’s case: shades and aatxes) are drawn to the living and so when a portal to the Mists appears, they’ll frequently head to there. Demons from the Mists also are drawn to these portals, though for different reasons.
When things are made a big deal, they’re usually unique.
