Just an idea on HoT and possibilities
I think some sylvari don’t even believe that the human gods are real. It’s definitely a chat option for a sylvari when talking to some human farmer in queensdale near beetleton. She talks all zealotly, and you have the option to tell her you don’t believe in the human gods.
Besides that though, the human gods ran away because of the dragons, they believe in “non-interference” now, I doubt some dragon breed is gonna make melandru sway from that ideology.
Yea, but the gods do exist even if the other races don’t consider them gods, else, we wouldn’t have fought abaddon n such.
As far as the non-interference, I think part of the quest would be persuading Melandru that they, along with all the races, working together, have an even better chance at defeating the dragons.
Well, no one knows where they are; except perhaps Rytlock, hence him being blind now, and being as how Rytlock isnt exactly a human-god lover, and the human gods arent exactly charr lovers… I don’t see him putting in any good words.

The point is that 1) The Sylvari have never seen them or their influence since the gods left 225 years before the Sylvari awakened so the Sylvari are right to be critical of the existence of the gods, at least the present-day existence of them and 2) You can believe the gods exist while still doubting or denying their divinity or at least refusing to let them dictate how you should live your life (see: Charr and Asura).

Rytlock is actually pretty knowledgable about human history and mythology. In addition, he’s a very pragmatic Charr. If he sees benefits in an alliance with the human gods then he would probably accept such an alliance.
That all said, I think it is highly unlikely for the gods to appear in GW2.

Not saying the sylvari will ask for help, I’m saying the players themselves, through a quest, maybe due to hints from rytlock, and try to find a way to contact some of the gods, in this case melandru, because her magic might be similar to mord’s. And perhaps all she’ll be able to do is interrupt mord’s influence over the sylvari.
As far as the likelihood of not reappearing? Who knows, I’d be bummed if they never did.
Think of it like one of the nightfall missions, where we had to channel all the human gods to help fight against shiro/lich.
One of the reasons I thought of this, is due to the fear of sylvari that is developing, and I believe our characters will have to find some way to remove or at least alleviate that fear for the greater populous.
Hmm, another thought, the Pale Tree and similar trees are bound to Mordremoth’s magic right? So if we defeat Mord, what will support the trees?
In Zhaitan’s case, his minions are apparently still there, but are slowly going away gradually, i.e. no new ones are being created and the ones still in existence get destroyed.
So for the trees, would they still be able to produce more sylvari? Unless another source of magic can replace the dragon magic?

You mean 1302 years.

No, I meant 225 years. There are two moments in time when the gods ‘retreated’ to some extent. In 0 AE the gods left the physical world of Tyria. However, the gods continued to interfere with what went on on Tyria until the events of Nightfall in 1075 AE.
This would run into the bad example Orr set when concerning the Six and other races. In that, even though they were in the religious center of the humans, there wasn’t much interaction between the humans themselves and the different temples, divine magics, and Arah.
This example would have a human god, Melandru, inserting her influence and helping a race that questions her very existence because they’re in a time of need. Which is all well and good, if it weren’t for the fact that the humans, still believing in her and needing just as much help as the Sylvari, have been asking for her help and getting no response for the last couple centuries.
In my view, the 6 gods are just powerful entities, similar to the dragons, or norn spirits, the races just choose which they will worship/revere, and in return receive boons/power from them. Whether or not my human character believes in the norn spirits as godly beings or not, does not affect their existence or power.
As far as Melandru choosing to help non-humans… I doubt any aside from the mortal realm have issues with helping outside their designated race. Melandru and the other gods might see this as an opportunity to regain some of their lost power, and try to fight back against these dragons, which they had always thought unkillable before. But now, one of those dragons has been defeated.
On another note, doesn’t necessarily have to be Melandru, I just believe some power is needed to help the sylvari, and Melandru just fits the bill more than other sources:)
