Karka.
To be honest, I can’t remember them ever being mentioned before. Not even in Guild Wars 1. They probably were never discovered because they’re so far down south – Or perhaps knowledge of their existence got lost when Orr sank.
They might very well be something new that got pushed to the surface because of the Deep Sea Dragon. Chances are we’ll find out a lot more about them on friday and the rest of the weekend :P
wonder if they have to do with the Mursaat to some degree, requiring infused gear be more effective against
The wiki says they were a deep sea dwelling race who got pushed to the surface so chances are they’re like the krait only abit more alien in mindset, hopefully we get to see them tear through a krait base or 6 so those annoying snakemen get a lesson in why they arent the lords of the sea they think they are.
The Karka reminds me of the creatures we crossed HM ??sea of jade in gw1!
I was hoping they might be deep sea dragon minions, more like Destroyers which never came across as ‘corrupted’ creatures but ones created by Primordus.
So far all we know is:
- They have been driven up from the deeps by something. (The Quaggen might know more about them in this case)
- They will be very difficult to kill.
- They are surprisingly fast.
- The event in LA is going to be awesome
The Karka probably have very little to do with the infusion. If I remember right the Ascended armor and Infusions come from the new dungeon, Fractals of the Mists.
the Karka look very much like the Leviathans found in the Jade sea,not the ones encased in jade bu the 2 legged ones on the surface, this seems to tie in somewhere with the DSD,just as the kirin have scales etc.
Also one more thing, the screenshot for the Fractals show a monster that very much represents the artwork for DSD’s minions as well as the Leviathan encased in the deep aswell as in alot of places in the Jade sea.

Infusion has to do with the Fractals of the Mists dungeon, which is not Karka related as far as we know.
Karka are aquatic creatures, mursaat are not. There’s more likely to be a tie to krait, quaggan, or largos than anything.

Except there’s no artwork for the DSD’s minions.
I find it humorous you keep making connections between the DSD and Cantha without making an actual claim. But the DSD – which is, to all our knowledge, not connected to the Fractals of the Mists dungeon, given that the dungeon seems to take place in the Mists – is not in Cantha to our knowledge (or at least, didn’t awake there) and is implied to have awakened in the deepest parts of the Unending Ocean.

true, but about the ‘no artwork’ http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Sea_creature_concept_art.jpg here it is,also, put next to something from the Fractals of the Mists: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/ picture under the Agony part.
is it rlly that impossible that some of the DSD related creatures are in cantha,i never mentioned anythign about the DSD himself being in Cantha
As far as we know they are creatures from way below the waves, possibly the deepest trenches………..the real question, what in the hell else dwells down there slowly being pushed out by the dragon?
@jink: Issue about your claiming that concept art is of a DSD minion is that we don’t know what it is. Another issue is that its official name is “1233” and not “sea creature” – the sea creature title was given by a wiki editor (though apparently the same image is titled “Leviathan” in the fan assets kit, meaning that this was early concept art of the leviathan which look nothing like the concept art).
Also, that image of the creature is part of Fractals of the Mists which, again, has not connection to the deep sea dragon. That thing could just as easily be a torment demon, which are known for mimicking life but looking rather sinewy irregardless.
