Just a question… although perhaps a stupid one, but wondering what people think about kasmeer’s ability to see whether someone speaks the truth or not, having something to do with the gift of true sight?

Although the purpose of gift of true sight was different, but not sure if it had any other effects other then seeing the mursaat and other spiritual beings.

I see no reason to believe an ability that must be unlocked via Ascension – an art that requires travel to the heart of the Crystal Desert – has anything to do with telling whether someone is lying or not.

In fact, the whole Kasmeer-able-to-see-lies is presented in a very, VERY mundane, completely not-magical way… but presented as magical out of game.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I don’t think it’s that. They have certainly made it a plot point though, so it has to do with something.

I vaguely remember something about the human royal line having this power, or the rightful heir to the human kingdoms. Does anyone have any more info about that?

Queen Jennah is also a very powerful mesmer. Seems like all those human nobles are.

The only thing tied to human royal line being that they are to be protectors of the Bloodstones (per History of Tyria), their blood is required to unlock the Bloodstones’ full potential (per History of Tyria), a true heir of Ascalon needed to end the Foefire (per The Movement of the World), and… that’s all, really.

The only magical ties that Doric’s line is tied to is the Bloodstones, no “lie detection capabilities” amongst them.

It’s not surprising a lot of human nobles gear towards mesmerism, since it has been – since prophecies – presented as the more ‘elegant’ profession and whatnot. Throughout GW1, most nobles were either warriors, mesmers, ritualists (Cantha only) or without a profession, and most actors were warriors, mesmers, or without a profession. So that’s no surprise.

iv never thought of the possibility that Kasmeer has royal blood…
from a narrative perspective this could be quite awesome.
i mean what beater way to hide liniage in a time of great strife.
what if her fathers death wasnt related to gambling and instead to a minister that perhaps knew to much?

but perhaps this is still related because of the eye of janthir.
perhaps the fact there is alot more unfettered magic in the world kass has gained the same abilitys as the eye?

(though this was more used to find magic, it is a magical construct and i imagine constructs can be altered)
