Hey there people,
I would like to know if those statues of the people in this image: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Kessex_Hills_loading_screen.jpg
are actually in the game world.
I’ve given myself a mission to take screens of my character standing in front of various landmarks in the game and this one is next on the list.

Please say it exists.

P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I couldn’t find anywhere to discuss the game world.

Nope, sorry but they don’t exist in game.
Concept art is of course just that, concept art. It depicts an artists idea of what an area could look like, not what is actually to be found there.
Lore-wise it wouldn’t have made much sense for the structures to be there since they weren’t there in GW1.

Most of the loading screens didn’t make it as is into the game.

@FlamingFoxx: They could have been built over 250 years, though they’d be making more sense in the Crystal Desert. TBH, I suspect that concept art was for the now-verdant areas of the Crystal Desert, rather than Kryta.

Actually they might be. I’ll have to take another look but they remind me of the gate to Ebonhawke.

No, tkittenonhawke gates are different and are seen in their own specific concept arts.

I just realized something I didn’t see before: The statue on the far right is Kekai’s concept art for a wing/fin-less Largos to show her back armor:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/c/c3/Female_Largos_without_Wings_concept_art.jpg/454px-Female_Largos_without_Wings_concept_art.jpg

It has the exact same shape, look at the hair and you can see the same pointy part (not sure if an ear or part of the hair).

Some others (I think all of them) are reutilizations from other known concept art (for example there is the first Logan shown in one of the earliest trailers for the game) but I didn’t reaize before that one was a Largos concept art (without the fins it’s hard to spot if you don’t have that specific drawing in your mind).

EDIT: Ok I searched for them and all of them match different art pieces by Kekai:

The one on the left is the Statue of Dwayna (with modified wings, but you can see the rest is the same, the hair pattern, the face, the clothes): http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/5/56/Dwayna_god_statue_concept_art.jpg

The other big one is one of Lyssa’s sisters (I was thinking about Eir at first but you can clearly see it’s taken from this one): http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/a/ae/Lyssa_god_statue_concept_art.jpg

The frontal one with the horned helmet is from Balthazar’s statue: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/5/5b/Balthazar_god_statue_concept_art.jpg

The figure on his left is Logan Thackerey taken from this art: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/8/85/Logan_03_concept_art_%28Knight_Errant%29.jpg

And between Logan and Balthazar is this Norn dude seen here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:The_Descent_concept_art.jpg (this is the one I had to look for the most, but I had that specific concept art in mind and I knew it was from there). Like many of the statues it’s missing an arm but you can clearly identify the sapes of the armor and axe and even the lights of the leg.

Then there is the wing-less Largos I already mentioned.

This loading screen is basically a landscape Kekai did meshing different art pieces he already had. A-Net probably though it was cool (is there some piece from Kekai that isn’t cool? So one containing multiple of his art pieces would be even better!) and used it for a loading screen, but I don’t think it has any relevance to the area and the lore of the game at all.

I thought the statues are dwarves.

But… maybe this is why Kessex, despite the last three letters of its name, is pretty empty…

Empty promises of awesome statue

I’d say the left one is Dwayna and the right one is Melandru, 2 human gods. Because this a mostly human land.

Good find Lokhiet! I just wish it had all made it into the game, especially if a lot of it can already be found in the world (the god’s statues).

@Lokhiet: I always knew the Dwayna, Lyssa, Balthazar, and Logan statues, but I never realized the largos or norn ones. Nice find there.

@Gandarel: Compare the images Lokhiet linked to the loading screen, he’s got them correct. The Dwayna one is definitely a modified version and could possibly be an unknown Dwayna/Melandru statue concept art (there were at least two versions of the Balthazar one, so there may have been more of the others too), but the left one is definitely Lyssa as well.

@Narcemus: Technically, they can’t be found in the game – they’re just re-used concept art designs. But even those versions of the god statues are unique unto the loading screen. Though I suppose the Dwayna and Lyssa statues could have just been put into some cliff, enlarged like the Orr temple ones.
