Kormir what if she is not a Goddess
I think she would need a bigger blindfold
It’s an interesting idea. I’ve had the same thoughts but in regards to Dhuum and Menzies being the culprits. As they where at war with the gods before Nightfall happened.

Not going to happen O_o.
I don’t think it’s possible – that was the point of us fighting Abaddon in the final Nightfall mission – to subdue him to the point. He is killed and his energy/power is released, Kormir absorbs it because that is what she was meant to do.
“<player name>: “Kormir?”
Kormir: “No. Yes. Kormir. And much more.”
<player name>: “Abaddon?”
Kormir: “No. His power. His knowledge. But not him. His will is broken. There is a new god of secrets. There is a new day.”"
Kormir is not Abaddon
Sorry mate. There was an interview before launch where the devs confirmed that Abaddon is dead and gone for good.

Source?
Not that I don’t believe you, but I have some friends who believe Abaddon is still alive in some way and I couldn’t find any hard evidence that he is really and completely death.

I’ll see if I can dig it up. It might have been one of the Ashenfold ones, though, and that site has gone bellyup.
If I can’t turn up anything, and nobody else here can either, your friends are of course under no obligation to take our word for it.
EDIT: So there’s this (around the seven minute mark) where Jeff Grubb says Abaddon is dead. There was another text interview later on, but I think it was Ashenfold, unfortunately.

Alright thanks

Just wondering if it could be possible that she did not absorb Abaddon, but instead he poured himself into her body taking over. She became a new vessel, allowing him to escape his prison that the other Gods placed him in. Then after he got out, the first thing he wanted was revenge on Mallyx the Unyielding for failing him in his plot to release him.
Now later on after that, the other unsuspecting Gods are easily ambushed with a new plot and this is the reason that the Gods stopped sending there aspects and have seemed to just disappear. Wonder if Kormir was to take off the blindfold how many eyes would she have?
Your one of those people that attempt to deny a tragedy happened aren’t you? just because its to horrible to accept? Really?
If this scenario was even a possibility there would have been some clue during or immediate after that quest. To those that don’t recall the event play Nightfall again or find a vid of it on youtube. Making a suggestion like that make me think that you either do not have a human as a main character and or have friends who do not have a human as one of their main characters.
I strongly suggest you do your Guild Wars research before posting something like this again.
What would having friends who don’t have humans as main characters have to do with it?
It should matter or affect one perception either way, true. But for some it may play a part in their race affinity to a degree.
But I stand by my statement without qualification. Since while it is true that a support humanity in the first instance, I do my best to ensure that my opinions do not contain anything that cannot be confirmed by accepted Lore.
Maybe be careful about going on the offensive Nicholas considering the nature of some of your own posts. >.>
Gummy only asked whether or not it was “possible”.
You should also be aware that not everyone has played GW1 or is interested in playing it, so telling people that they need to go and do so in order to participate in GW2 lore discussions is a little harsh.
I acknowledge that some selected parts of my post contain aspects that can be considered “reaching” in terms of current and past Lore but all have always been in the pursuit of fairness and balance to Humanity in GW2.
And as I have suggested we all have access to tools like youtube.
Did you take this post as an attack against humanity?
Here is the problem with Abaddon being dead and, in being so, being “gone for good.” When humans die they go to the mist right? What’s to say that dead gods don’t go to the mist as well? Or are they not granted eternal life like humans are (Similar to Wrath of the Titans movie)?

Well to be fair we don’t know where the gods come from or what their relation to the Mists is, so it would be kind of unfair to judge them against humans. The gods themselves are seemingly not mortal in the same sense that humans/the other races of Tyria are, so it would make sense if upon being destroyed they actually cease to exist.
You could also question it in terms of souls – if it’s a humans soul that returns to the Mist, do Gods have souls? Kormir absorbed his power which was released upon his destruction, so perhaps a gods power is sort of equivalent to a humans soul. Also if you read the dialogue after Kormir absorbs his power she says:
Kormir: “No. His power. His knowledge. But not him. His will is broken. There is a new god of secrets. There is a new day.”
So it’s possible that she absorbed ALL of him, including his mind, but because of our actions and her actions his “will is broken” and so he ceases to exist in the same manner that he did before.
To answer the Thread question…..Kormir is undoubtedly a Goddess. She Absorbed all the powers of Abaddon. She also isn’t the first one that we know of that ascended to Godhood. Grenth was born on Tyria. His mother is Dwayna, and his Father is a mortal. He was just a half god. He ascended to full Diety status after defeating Dhuum.
Although the ways that they ascended were a little different, and Grenth was already halfway there, they both ended up at the same point. 1) Defeat Previous God, 2) Take Power, 3)????, 4) Profit!!!
As far as all the other questions on this thread, I doubt that Anet will ever answer the question, or shed light on some of the other lore involving the human Gods, since there are more important things to worry about, like a crazy red plant that wants to do….something!
And humans aren’t granted eternal life, either- they get one shot at the afterlife, but there are things, namely demons, that can destroy their souls forever.
Aaron Ansari, do you have a source for that?
Did you take this post as an attack against humanity?
Unintentionally on the part of the original poster. but a definite yes.

Which part was the attack? The question of whether or not there was a possibility? Interpreting that as an attack is extremely irrational.

I think it’s more than possible but it’s not the direction ArenaNet wishes to pursue.
It’s clear from the Lore that Gods can’t be killed, Dhumm’s spirit lingering in the underworld is the proof.
Abaddon was one of the most powerful human gods, in life he was able to overpower 3 others and when weakened -in the land of torment- was able to instigate all the events in the original guild wars campaign.
I always found it implausible that a mere mortal was able to absorb his spirit, control his power and subdue his will that easily.
They should explain it better: maybe she has an ancient artifact that negates his will or some divine ancestry (like Grenth) but in the current Lore, I think he should still linger somewhere in Kormir.
Pray with me, maybe he’ll return ^^
“Abaddon! Lord of the Everlasting Depths, Keeper of Secrets, open mine eyes and bestow upon me the knowledge of the Abyss that I might smite mine enemies and send them to the watery depths!”
If Kormir wields Abaddon’s power, then maybe she could redeem herself as a character if she commands over his demon army and titans. What a twist that could be!

Scarlet is more interesting.

Kormir’s army of redeemed margonites seem to disagree with you.

When they start being more present than Scarlet’s little toy alliances and minions, I’ll try to be more interested in them. Until then, they’re just a fan theory which is intriguing but not real.
Though to be fair, Tixx’s runamok toys are more interesting than Scarlet for many.

You can thank people’s inability to properly define the term “Villian Sue” for that one.
