At the end of the Guild Wars 2 Manifesto trailer released a few years ago, we saw in game footage of a Sylvari swimming with a very large underwater creature passing by.

I’m quite curious about this beast and i believe it should have more mention. Does anyone know if it’s related to any of the Elder Dragons? DSD?

I’ve added an attachment of what it looks like from the Manifesto trailer.

There is the video at the correct time to see it. Very interesting, it certainly looks dragon-esque. All the dragons have their own theme in style, maybe that’s the first glimpse of Bubble’s theme. A champion, perhaps.

EDIT: Nevermind, pasting URLs from YouTube into the forum strips the times tamp from it.

A gear treadmill in Guild Wars, seriously?

I don’t know if this is the same, but there are skeletons in game that look a lot like this with the tusks and all. They are however, quite a bit smaller. Chompy’s skeleton in Sharkmaw caverns. A mounted specimen in the Durmand Priory. Several washed up skeletons in Orr.

It’s not in-game, unfortunately, but you can find the skeletons of its species all over the place.

It was explicitly stated by devs to be unrelated to the Elder Dragons when the video came out, since there was a lot of speculation it may have been tied to the DSD or Jormag (even being said dragons).

@Furienify: It should be in-game. We probably just haven’t seen it yet. Unless its for future content.

Well, about half an hour after looking at this thread, I came across this particular loading screen right before one of the pact quests.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t those the same type of creature? The size also seems to fit rather well.

So, I’m guessing they have something to do with the krait.

Good find. Considering the loading screen was involved with a Pact quest, I’d be more inclined to associated the concept art with the Risen, though I could be wrong. They do look similar.

Hmm, yes, that seems rather probable as well.
I’m hoping this isn’t the last we’ve seen of it/them.

This seems highly unlikely, but it might as well be some kind of risen/otherwise corrupted Giganticus Lupicus, the kind that was speculated to be aquatic.

Could be a reimagining of these, perhaps:

Wow, that is interesting. Considering it is rumored that the Krait may serve the DSD and that there is a Krait in the picture. Well done.

Well, I don’t know how I did it, but I somehow missed Konig’s post.
I guess that blows both my own and Sithaco’s theory out of the water.

Oh well, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…

Oh, has anyone found a name that corresponds to the skeleton in the Priory? That might give a bit more insight on what it actually is. I’d look in the .dat myself, but I have no idea how to, so I’ll just leave that to people with more experience than me :p

My post on the Leviathan being naturally unrelated to the DSD doesn’t mean they aren’t the thought-to-be-aquatic gigantic skeletons (in fact, I’d say that’s highly likely! Good thought).

“Chompy” from Sharkmaw Caverns was a shark, iirc, and its the same skeleton as the one in the Priory. So it’s likely a species of sharks.

If you take a close look at the claw of jormag in frost gorge sound he has the exact same head as the Leviathan in the picture.

It might be they use to have the claw come out of the water or some such.

Ah, yes! Good point, Konig.

Karast, I assume you are talking about this fellow right here?

If so, I really don’t think that’s him. For starters, he doesn’t have tusks, which appear to be rather big in case of the ‘Leviathan’. In addition to that, his eyes are different, his face is less curvy, and his skin color seems to be a lot brighter.

Some rather interesting speculation so far. It’s quite likely that it’s not in game yet, i have been looking in the deepest and darkest sea’s (some of which are pitch black). Haven’t come across anything yet, i was hoping it was hidden some where, even if we couldn’t fight or interact with it.

Take a look at the claw in the second phase of the fight after it looses it’s wings and becomes grounded. The model changes a fair bit between the phases.

It might also be that they use the same base model. Like kodan / icebrood kodan, branded charr / charr ext.

But when you get up close and look at the head from the side the eyes and head shape are very similar.

My guess is the Leviathan might end up being a meta event zone boss like the claw, the shatterer, tequatl, the shadow behemoth, the crab, and others.

I need to go check the risen sea-monster event though and check their models.
