Q:
Both my friend and I were in considerable awe over those statues and made it our personal mission to find them in game.
We have completed the entire zone and have yet to see them.
So my question is, do they actually exist? Because I am going to feel very lied to if they don’t.
If so, what lore is behind them? (Never played GW1).

A:
They do not exist in the game world, sadly.
Many of the loading screens display places that don’t actually exist, since they are early concept art.
For example, take a look at Hoelbrak. Someone on Reddit pointed out some very strange buildings in the back covered by ice, and what looks like a construction crane.
I just want to emphasize the last word of Lande’s first sentence. I was really really hoping for such statues – not that it’d be too hard. A statue of Balthazar, a statue of Logan (yup, that’s logan), and carved into the rocks a statue of Dwayna and Kormir (this could be easily done by placing the statues of Kormir and Dwayna into the rock textures, and changing the color to match). Would be so befitting of how the humans treat the gods. A small little valley of god statues.
@Lande: Actually, most of the loading screens is directly relevant to the area. I think it’s only Kessex Hills, Diessa Plateau (kinda), Harathi Hinterlands, and Hoelbrak who’s appearance is very different from the actual thing. I suppose Dredgehaunt Cliffs since the “Greater Ice Elemental” (as it was called in the BWEs) doesn’t exist there but in Wayfarer Foothills. And arguably Timberline Falls too – but that’s only 6 of ~30 zones/cities.
That was an ice elemental? I thought It was just a big Tumor of Jormag Ice. I haven’t explored all of Dredgehaunt.. now I’m disappointed.
Thank you for the responses. I suspected that was the case, but I was still kind of hopeful that if you climbed high enough they might be visible as scenery in the distance ( that would honestly have been enough for me), or might have been around in GW1.
If it’s just random concept art (albeit awesome concept art), then maybe this area is planned for a later expansion. (fingers crossed).
@konig that’s not necessarily logan. that could be Mr. Eyepatch Guy from the unreleased Sea of Sorrows book (going by the implication that Mr. Eyepatch Guy was important in that battle due to this trailer)

Actually I was thinking it was the jormag lieutenant from destiny’s edge book (it was described as shapeshifting ice form, something very similar to what’s in that concept art. Eh who’s to say, we may never know. It is definitely some early concept art though, as are most of the loading screens, so don’t read too much into them.
