Lore behind the Mists War and Hall of Heroes
hall of heroes was to try and fight for the gods’ favour, originally, the winners would have their world blessed by the gods, allowing the statues in elona and factions as well as the ones in the temples to be used thus accessing blessings and access to the divine realms
the guild wars manuscripts say this “In the center of the Rift, deep inside the Mists, stands the imposing walled fortress known across the multiverse as the Hall of Heroes. This structure is the pinnacle of the afterlife. When a hero dies, his spirit goes to one of two places: either it is buried with the deceased body, forever trapped inside the rotting flesh and rancid bones of the corpse, or it is released into the Rift. This latter honor goes to only those few whose deeds in life were legendary enough to be known across multiple worlds, and fewer still earn a place among the souls ensconced inside the Hall itself.”
in the movement of the world, this is stated“The Battle Isles flooded at the same time, decimating the temples. The priests of Balthazar scattered for a time, before also finding their way to Lion’s Arch after the tides began to recede. They claim they were called there by Balthazar, and the god did indeed open a massive portal within the city to the Mists where a great battle between worlds wages for his favor. With the fall of the Battle Isles, Lion’s Arch became the Guild Home, a central point for the guilds of the world as well as the conduit to the Hero’s Hall.”
Kiel Replacement Movement
Hello,
Are the Charakteres we’re playing really just fighting other Creatures for an unknown reason, because Portals bring them there?
Exactly. No lore in WvW.
And about HoH, what getefix said.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Hall of Heroes was a tournament, akin to gladiators in ancient Rome but not by slaves or indebted folks but adventurers and fighters. See the GWW’s entry on Lord Odran for more.
The Mist War is a war with an unknown force (to characters) that is claimed to be pure evil and trying to invade Tyria.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

The strange and totally not logical part is that, why don’t they try to consult and make a treaty? Instead of fighting each other in the mists, they should trade forces to help out each others’ worlds.
Well, maybe they wouldn’t trust each other that much, but this warring is pointless. Crafting bonuses won’t save Tyria.

Given NPC dialogue, the other forces don’t allow room for negotiations, being descriped as evil, unmerciful, etc. etc. Plus, for all we know there’s language and cultural barriers. We know nothing of the “invaders” from a lore standpoint.
Fun fact though… All repair npcs are Arcane Eye agents. Makes you curious what the Arcane Council has invested in the Mist Wars.
