Lore on FoW/UW/HoH and the 6 gods?
|Seasonic S12G 650W|Win10 Pro X64| Corsair Spec 03 Case|
The Gods left long before the Dragons rose.
They left back in Nightfall.
One can also assume that access to FoW/UW/HoH is simply not possible due to them leaving.

The realms of the Gods apparently still exist, since there are portals to the Underworld. Currently creatures seem to only spill out of the Underworld, and not travel into it. GW1 taught us that you needed the favor of the Gods, in order for their avatars to grant you access to their realms (for a small fee). It seems clear that Grenth no longer controls the creatures in the Underworld, and apparently neither do his servants. Does this mean the Reapers no longer are there to keep Dhuum locked up? These are big questions that have yet to be answered.
One thing we do know pretty sure. If Dhuum broke free, he would surely (try to) reclaim his power. And Dhuum had his own ideas about death. He forbid resurrections and the raising of undead creatures. So if he got back in power, we’d probably notice right away. So my bet is that some of Grenth’s servants still remain, and continue to keep Dhuum imprisoned. Maybe King Frozenwind is still there.

Well the Reapers (or at least one of them) does still exist at least. But he/she/it doesn’t tell us much about what is going on in the Underworld.

The Six Gods – per Jeff and Ree – ceased/gradually reduced contact with the events of Nightfall so as to allow humanity to learn to grow independent rather than being reliant on the Six for all of “their” problems, big or small. In GW2, we can learn from Priestess Rhie that humanity has searched for the Six but cannot find them, only allotting their location to simply “not within the Mists.”
As the Six ceased contact, so too did their avatars cease contact. It was through the avatars that humanity was capable of accessing their realms with exception of apparent tears-in-reality (Door of Komalie and Mouth of Torment – which only lead to the Realm of Torment). The status of the Door of Komalie and Mouth of Torment is unknown, but with the loss of the avatars, we lost connection to the realms. The state of these realms are thus unknown, since all means to access the realms have been lost – in the past 250 years, there were attempts to access the Underworld (if not elsewhere), and said attempts resulted in Godslost Swamp’s little mayhem.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I had almost forgotten about those. I always kind of assumed that after Nightfall, the damage that was done would have been repaired. I imagine Kormir would not leave such a massive rip in space/time to exist, with all kinds of nasty creatures spilling out. We never got to see such repairs during GW1, since all campaigns tend to be frozen in that one moment of the story, and thus never changing. But it would not surprise me if that door was now closed thanks to Kormir.
It is also interesting to note that we never got to see any of the other god realms in GW1. Since Balthazar and Grenth had their own realm, it is not unlikely that the other gods had realms of their own too.

I agree that the other Gods have there own Relms, it would make sence. I only asked about UW/FoW/HoH as they are he only areas we go to where there is open war fair between gods. Maybe the other gods have been drawn into those conflicts? The hero’s of Nightfall sorted out DoA as far as the story tells us.
There has to be one massive battle accruing in the UW as everything poring out of the portals are not Grenths army, which is why I believe he forces of Dhuum and Menzie have ganed a strong foothold in the UW. I do how ever find it odd that Balthazar would open a portal to the mists for people to fight in for his glory, only to walk away. This is another resin I think the gods are at war.
I do find it all a bit messy and odd. But then I guess I am trying to understand a god.

Well, I don’t think it was ever explicitly stated the shades and the Aatxe are servants of Grenth. Especially in GW1 the Aatxe just seem to be classified as demons, and seem to be doing their best to disrupt any of the quests. Grenth never seemed to keep a leash on them back then. I think we need to make a difference between:
- Servants of Grenth (The Reapers and King Frozenwind)
- Creatures that live in the Mists (Aatxe, Smite Crawlers)
- Servants of other Gods (Dhuum’s skeleton army, The Four Horsemen)
The Underworld is filled with a mixture of those factions.

I thought Aatxe where part of the shadow army. As they appear alongside shadow army members in FoW in GW1. Crawlers and behamoths I thought where the “normal” residents of the UW. I think the driads(can’t remember the names) are also part of the Dhuum and Menzie army’s if I remember correctly.

Aatxe in fow? I think you might be confusing them with the Abyssals.

Possibly. Been some time since I’ve been there.

Why would “all kinds of nasty creatures” be “spilling out” from the heart of Kormir’s own under-control (or so we’d presume) realm?

Aatxes are natural inhabitants of the Underworld, but some were enslaved by dryders (I think that’s what you mean by ‘driads’ which you likely were thinking of dryads which are nymphomaniac forest spirits in greek folklore :P) whom were only part of Dhuum’s army.

Yes, Dryders. I’m still holding out hope that if we ever get Legendry armor, we will need to go to these areas to get mats/craft them as in guild wars.

Even under Kormir’s control, wouldn’t the Realm of Torment still be filled with torment creatures? I would assume she’d want to close a direct portal to this hellish realm.

I didn’t think the Realm of Torment would be Kormir’s realm, she is not the god of torment after all.. Rather the place Abbadon was imprisoned. I was always under the impression it was part of the underworld.

Now you’re confusing things. My original point was that Kormir would not leave the gateway into the Real of Torment open, after ascending to godhood, because very nasty creatures would continue to spill out. We didn’t say it was Kormir’s Realm, that would probably be the former domain of secrets.

The Realm of Torment’s still refered to as a hellish realm even now so I motion that ArenaNet make it into 5 zones(Domain of Pain, Domain of Fear, Domain of Secrets, Domain of Anguish and Depths of Madness) for Guild Wars 2(maybe add 5 zones featuring the Underworld too while they’re at it namely a Ice Wastes zone, a Spawning Pools zone, a Twin Serpent Mountains zone, a Forgotten Vale zone and a Chaos Plains zone).
What of Balthazar and his supposed opening of portals into the Mists?
Or has everyone forgotten about that?
ArenaNet must also add the Fissure of Woe’s zones
1:Burning Forest
2:Forest of the Wailing Lord
3:The Great Battle Field
4:The Lake of Fire
5:The Shore of the Fissure of Woe
These areas would go well as zones with Zones from the Underworld:
1:Ice Wastes
2:Spawning Pools
3:Twin Serpent Mountains
4:Forgotten Vale
5:Chaos Plains
And while ArenaNet is at it they should add Zones from the Realm of Torment:
1:Domain of Pain
2:Domain of Fear
3:Domain of Secrets
4:Domain of Anguish
5:Depths of Madness

Your joking right? GW2 is all about Sylvari and Asura now, so any mention of the gods in GW2, even the portals into the mists that Balthazar himself was said to have opened, is now considered foolish words from a foolish people clinging to their foolish gods that the Sylvari say do not exist because they have never seen them before.
