Mantid extinct?
So yeah,
After searching some food for thought I was wondering what happend to the Mantid that could be found mostly in the Sjing Jea Islands of Factions in Guild Wars 1. I have found no lore or anything about them in Guild Wars 2. How come?
Because we can’t even go to Cantha right now, much less that island.
There was so many of those things on that island. i wouldn’t be surprised if their numbers grew!
I still wonder what happen to all the Moss Scarabs in the Maguuma Jungle.
Many enemies were removed in gw2 and its fun speculate what happened to them
gargoyles, behemoths, giants, hydras and others.

It might be fun but it is a bit useless, since most (if not all) will not have been removed for lore-reasons but for other reasons (gameplay, resources, aesthetics).
Gargoyles seem to be the exception. We have lore confirmation that gargoyles actually disappeared.
I’m not sure what you mean when you say ‘giant’ though. We have giants in GW2. They are nothing like GW1 giants, that’s true. But then, GW1’s giants are suspiciously similar to GW2’s ogres.
The Mantids burrowed into a leypoint, most died, the survivors were however able to feed on the energy, and in 250 years, have evolved into spitting, laser shooting chak. Maybe lol.

+1 to you good sir
Mantids even in GW1 were exclusive to Cantha and the charr homelands – none of the regions where they were found have been visited in GW2. So all we can really say is that they haven’t expanded into central Tyria.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
