I’ve seen this topic: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Are-Mini-s-people-too and I thought “that’s a good question, lets check this out” but I was kind of mislead by it.
Never the less, this topic kept me thinking: what are minis lorewise? Are they some kind of mini shapeshifting pet race, enchanted toys or what? Does game lore even accept minis or are they just for a players too see?
And the last question: If the lore accepts minis, how does Marjory see me having mini half naked Kasmeer following me around?

I always saw them as something like a hologram made by the Asura. Like walking, talking photos.

I suppose she likes it…and even if not, it’s not like she can change it…you’re the boss after all. And the original is still hers.
i think it is probably be more awkward for Kasmeer herself.

SOME are described as being actual magically animated toys. The wintersday toy minis for example.

As Kalavier pointed out, the wintersday minis are said to be toys in game, miniature golems if I remember correctly. We could probably assume that most, if not all, minis then would be complex golems of some type, although I suppose that some of the animal ones could be actual animals.

There are unfortunately no examples of minis belonging to NPCs that I am aware of, so they must be very expensive/rare for the vast majority of tyrians; much like how waypoints and portals are extremely expensive for the common NPC. I imagine that kasmeer would feel honored that such expense was spared over her.

In Nightfall, it was confirmed they were toys, which as stated above, has been reinforced by Wintersday in GW2.

However, the Black Moa Chick miniature from GW1 was an actual black moa chick – a living, breathing, animal. I would argue the same can be said for the baby miniatures in GW2.

The black moa chick is one of those rare things that actually looked better in GW1… they’re kind of googly-eyed in GW2.
Though I’m not sure any of them are black specifically, on second thoughts…

since gw1, i had my own theory about mini’s.

let me tell you all.

in gw1 you had the mursaat, to defend agaisnt their magics you had to infuse your armor.
the seers needed a spectral essence froma squid to infuse it into your armor.
1 essence was enough to infuse 8 armor sets (1 of each player, for 1essence)
but what if your alone. and only need 1 set infused, what does he do with the rest of the essence.

the seers use it the make minipet sout of it. thats why they are magical:D
