Minor mistake with halloween lore?
You’re just looking into it too much. They probably said “more than 250 years ago” because it sounds better than “more than 254 years ago”.
On the other hand, I doubt the war against Zhaitan lasted for less than a couple of years. It moves pretty fast in the game, but pushing to Arah from Fort Trinity and establishing all of those camps should have taken a while
Most things in game refer to events as having occurred 250 years after GW1, so…
Arenanet LOVES to estimate numbers. They LOVE round numbers.
This is why Guild Wars 2 is said to take place “250 years after GW1” – despite it being only 250 years after Nightfall. This is why the Elder Dragons are said to have awaken 50 years apart. This is why the sylvari are said to be 25 years old (according to the novel timelines, they’re 23 years old). This is also why the Ghosts of Ascalon summary says that the Foefire was 250 years ago (it was 234 years prior to GoA).
@Odoakar: I’d doubt that from Claw Island to killing Zhaitan was more than a year. Each GW1 campaign (sans the 2 year intermission seen in Prophecies) takes place within a year. GW2’s likely the same. The game seems to begin in spring/summer, so it likely ends in about winter.
You can probably expect some “Zhaitan is dead” dialogue in Halloween content – if not Wintersday content.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
I was gonna say the same thing. Honestly 250 years just means he hasn’t been seen between Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2. I wouldn’t take things any further than that.
