Hello,

First and foremost let me start by saying that I absolutely lore Guild Wars lore, both the first and the second game.

I have read and re-read the 3 books that have been released so far and I have devoured both game’s wikis.

One thing that I also liked having about this website was the stories that the GW writers would release from time to time. The most iconic of them all was the story about the life changing experience that Scarlet had when she entered Nomad’s machine…

I really miss that. For people that really enjoy the lore and the stories behind the game it was a nice and intereting way to get more information about the characters, the story, motivations. etc….

I am telling this out in the hopes that we are abel to see this again… That and hopefully a brand new book to read

There has been quite a bit of discussion about the website stories (sounds like a westside story parody). Some people loved them but other people hate out-of-game lore sources and would rather see the short stories integrated within the game somehow (which Anet somewhat did with the library).

on the one hand the short stories were cool but on the other i hate that people have to go to a billion different places to get all the lore for the game, it would be much much much (etc) better if they could find a way to put it all in game.

Most wanted in game additions: Beastiary, readable books

Though I agree ANet should do their very best to get all lore info implemented into the game, I really really don’t think it was a good move to completely abandon all the short stories.
There are certain things and stories you just can’t present on a cinema screen or with gameplay mechanics. The simplest form would be to move short stories into the Priory’s libraries (with a new UI). This has been suggested so many times, and I really hope they can return to the short story format that way.

(other than that: I agree that ANet needs to implement stuff like Scarlet’s short story into the actual gameplay. Though there’s no reason we can’t have both.)

I think a big part of it is probably that they’ve served their purpose. After all, they were brought in as a primer on new characters, and the ones that didn’t serve that function tended to be pretty forgettable, imo. In retrospect I wouldn’t have minded a Taimi story but other than that there’s been no further use for them in S2.

… maybe for Belinda, but what she really needed was to be made a character inside of the game, not just Marjory’s Sister #1.

I kind of understand that the best choice would be to have it in game, accessible through the Priory’s library.

But I don’t know… I think by accessing it on a website would make it easier to read instead if just having to click “next” indefinately.

Ultimately I would want to have kind of the same emphasys to side lore as we see in other well established MMOs.

The books that ANet has released so far were great to read and I believe it went really well to make a bridge between GW1 and GW2. However it should not stop there. To be able to have more information about characters, culture and whatnot would be a great complement to the core story.

@Shiren.9532 I used Scarlett’s story as an example. Before that there were other short stories that would give a different view of the events that were happenning in Tyria. There are infinite possibilities that could create a new short story or a new book.

I cannot be the only one thinking like this ^^
