I wonder if ANet has any further plans with them. The guild was brought in October 2012 update and involved various cool fights with interesting AI opponents. NPCs have unique abilities like glue turret, displacement into rats or Mesmer’s UW Vortex on land.

So are they forgotten? They had been brought before the LS started so I wonder if there were/are any further plans associated ?

I’m not sure how much of this is entirely true, but I’ve heard that that patch was supposed to be the first of several that focused on introducing new dynamic events on a broad scale across Tyria. On account of the playerbase barely noticing the change (which was itself on account of the fact that we hadn’t even had time to track down all the events that had been part of the game from launch) the plans were discontinued and considered to not get enough attention to be worth the effort put into them.

If that is what happened, I wouldn’t expect Modus Sceleris to be picked up on again.

That said, after that was said, people told Colin basically what you just said – it was too early for people to know for sure whether an event was entirely new or just one the player hadn’t seen before (particularly since some fire extremely rarely).

After that, they’ve started putting in new ones that aren’t directly LS-related – I’ve seen a few around that I hadn’t seen before, but seem to fire commonly enough that it’s unlikely that I just wasn’t around at the right time beforehand.

Besides, even if the original reason for introducing Modus Scleris has been dropped, there might come a point where it’s worthwhile to pick up that thread again.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

This is also my understanding of what happened. Which is such a shame, since I still consider the dynamic event system the most interesting aspect of GW2 (and therefore pretty much liked the 22 October 2012 in particular because of the new events). But decoupling mega bosses from the event dynamic and generally moving more and more over to traditional scheduled events (e.g., in the Living Story) implies that ANet thinks otherwise.

BTW, is the Skritt Burglar still in the game? I really liked that event, too, and hoped ANet would expand on it, but I haven’t seen her in ages …

You see skritt burglar much more often because it is a mobile event, whereas the MS events are all stationary, and most are in locations away from the general playerbase (probably the most popular MS event I can think of is the one at the feet of the priory)

As far as I know, at least Orma (the Mesmer) had a trade cart when transformed into quaggan, which was stolen from someone trading with Inquest (it was written under the cart).

So I assume that they’re a band of outsiders, skilled in combat and living from theft (?). The fact that they recruit among all races (from human to troll) should be noticed also. I wonder if they have any corelation with Bandits then.

Orma mentions joining them after successful fight, we also don’t slay the members, just duelling. Character’s response is quite negative so I assume that the Tyrians know the guild already, we aren’t asking who are they at any point.

I’d like to see these guys step up to the bigger stage of the Living Story. It would definitely be interesting to see these elite fighters in action, as well as how they’re recognized by others.
