What is the comparison of magical power between ancient races(forgotten, seer, mursaat, jotun, and dwarves) It seemed that seer and mursaat had the most magic power, is there an argument to dispute this? and how close were the most powerful of these ancient spell casters to being on even ground with the human gods or other powerful magical entities. I believe according to GW1 BMP that lazarus the dire along with 2 other mursaat + saul’s forces were able to push back the charr invasion. my guess would be that the most powerful of the mursaat such as lazarus the dire would be more powerful then say mad king thorn, between their spectral agony and ability to split into multiple aspects, and using spells from different disciplines. any ideas or sources one way or the other would be helpful and appreciated.

I’m not sure if we can make an argument for one being of which we know very little, being stronger than another that we know very little about. For example, is Lazarus the Dire more powerful than Mad King Thorn? How do you compare the two? One is alive, the other is (un)dead. One splits into multiple aspects, the other seems impossible to kill, defying Grenth’s rules, and dominating an area of the Mists.

If you want to compare any of these beings, you’d have to compare equal attributes, and you’d have to pick creatures that are on sort of equal footing.

About the Seer we know very little. We see a lot of the Forgotten in GW1, but don’t see them perform a lot of their magic (at least not enough to judge how powerful they are I think). We also know very little of how powerful the Jotun were in the past. And to compare any of them with the human gods is nearly impossible, since again their powers are kept kind of vague. I think it may be impossible to draw any conclusions on this subject.

I’m not sure why people think that holiday event characters like the Thorns and Moto are integral parts of the game world. To my mind it just isn’t relevant and you can just accept holiday content as meaningless fun.

I disagree. Especially the Mad King has been a part of Guild Wars lore since the very first Halloween event in GW1. And since then, they have consistently expanded on his lore. Even going as far as to retrieve body parts of/for him from mysterious locations such as Majesty’s Rest, and now Haunted Nolani.

Moto has some what less lore supporting him, but during the most recent SAB event we got a lot more on his back story than before. They are more than just fun holiday characters. They ARE a part of the lore. Especially through Mad King Thorn we learn a lot about the history of Kryta, and the peasant revolt that followed. To me that is extremely important lore.

Woah, I would’ve not had the guts to call Mad King Thorn irrelevant and meaningless in front of one of the King’s wives! =O
