I was wondering if anyone knew of any official lore related information on the Mystic Forge? For example:

  • how did Zommoros come from Elona to occupy it?
  • who built it?
  • is its current incarnation its original form?
  • how did Miyani become involved?
  • how can it be moved from place to place?
  • why was it made?

As a repository of background information the page on the Wiki is notably lacking.

Zommoros is a djinn from Elona. They were quite common there.
Miyani is a Sunspear, likely one of few that still exist.

Other than that, there is no lore. It just functions as a big gold sink.

I don’t think it’s crystal clear Miyani is a sunspear, though her outfit does imply paragon.

To the questions:

  • Zomorros supposedly joined the refugees fleeing Palawa Joko.
  • Unclear.
  • Zomorros is said to be imprisoned and Miyani seems to be related to that – as well as being Zomorros’ friend?
  • Why couldn’kitten The Mystic Forge is literally just the “home of Zomorros”. Tossing stuff into it is no different than handing them to an NPC – where Zomorros goes, the mystic forge (which isn’t a forge at all) goes.
  • Also unclear, but as said there are hints that Zomorros is a prisoner – likely in the gem-like thing at the top – and Miyani can move him about.
Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Also, in John Smiths story it is implied that Zomorros is bound by some sort of contract. Although it’s not in-game, it does tie into the story of Zomorros being a prisoner of some sort.

Well pre-Islamic Arabian lore tends to indicate that Jinn are commonly bound to objects (like magic lamps, or magic rings), so this seems fairly in line with that concept.
