I’ve always been curious about the named Icebrood Wolf " Drowning Moon" in Snowden Drifts! Does anybody know how this enemy fits in lore-wise?

It seems to link to local Kodan somehow but I haven’t been able to find any more on it and it always piqued my interest for being singled out with a name?

It certainly sounds like a kodan name, but none of them mention it. Is there a heart in that area?

There’s a small Kodan camp nearby for a skill challenge but none of them mention losing a dog or anything? One of these NPCs is called Watchful Moon but mentions that his name wasn’t always so, so tie-in there seems a little less likely?

Local hearts don’t seem to mention it either?

Aaaaaand I just watched it get killed by a ram… sheesh calls itself a wolf?

I’ve always viewed that as a naming mishap – the name meant to go to a kodan, but put on an icebrood wolf on accident. I’ve looked and there’s nothing on it that I’ve found.

That does seem likely! I ran around the local villages to see if there were any NPCs mentioning suspicious attacks or anything that might infer a specific infamous enemy but nothing! Ah well! We shall simply have to think up something that fits a very special corrupted wolf with an affinity for icy dragons and a weakness to mildly irate sheep!

Its always bugged me too. Every time i see it i think “oooh a green!” but no.

I remember that Icebrood Wolf! It’s particularly unsettling considering that Watchful Moon talks about reincarnation. It’s as if the devs were hinting that her lost son got reincarnated as an Icebrood. O.o

I dunno… the kodan belief seems to be that kodan can only ever come back as kodan. At least, there’s not a single mention of moving backwards in race, and the kodan believe that there’s nothing forwards of them.

Yes, I know. While that sort of belief isn’t rare (many other religions that believe in reincarnation, like Buddhism, also believe that humans are the pinnacle of reincarnation cycle before the final step of attaining nirvana and exiting the cycle altogether), that particular Icebrood Wolf made it all the more unsettling since it seemed to directly prove Watchful Moon wrong.

Not to mention that kodan don’t have surnames and the like,their names are based on what defines them as an individual. So just because they share the word “Moon” in their name doesn’t mean they hold any relation or ties.

You can’t be reincarnated as icebrood, Jormag doesn’t create life, he only corrupts it, same goes for all dragons. Even destroyers arn’t actually living creatures.
