I noticed the ghostly arms around the necromancer in the official profession page. It looks like the Asuran necromancer is using the power of souls and spirits to ad him in battle. The spirits are ready to push all enemies away and keep the necromancer safe.

I wonder what they are. Are they Grasping Dead? Are they what Death Shroud was supposed to look like? Are they an upcoming or not yet implemented game mechanic? Are they related to Blinding Rituals? Are they just part of the concept art to look cool?
Thoughts?

Well, definitely a part of the concept art looking cool suggestion, but my best guess is they are showing the grasping dead and really the necromancer’s connection with death.
Those are like the hands of Grenth’s servants reaching out at the necromancer from the afterlife, begging for his attention.
Any more ideas and opinions on this? ^^
I think they just liked drawing cool concept art to try and get people interested. I try not to put too much thought into the art because I always end up questioning every single load screen.
I’m pretty sure it’s related to Grenth’s statues and how the dead reach out to him. I know Grenth isn’t the patron god of all necromancers anymore, but that doesn’t matter in the sense of concept art and how it feels.
I think you’re looking to far into this for something that isn’t there. It’s probably just supposed to give the picture a Necro look. If it was just an Asura with green glowing eyes it wouldn’t really have a “Lord of Death” feel to it. The arms are added for extra effect.
Well when I saw that picture, it seems to me the original idea of the necro is similar to the game The Darkness. Demons and ghosts resides inside the necro and assist him/her in battle. Its like a blinding ritual that the necro cast on himself. So instead of stationary spirits towers, those spirits sits right on top of the necro.

this times a thousand… sometimes the image i just that an image… the hands aren’t ghost hands but they hands of the dead rising at their masters command… it is simply to give the idea that this is a master of the dead and dark magic…
