Okay, so, I generally dont use the lore forums, mainly because I am still bussy playing trough guildwars 1 (Dont get me wrong, I know most lore, yet, not into the extreme)

Yesterday, when roleplaying, a Necromancer conjured my character a weapon out of bone, I was confused at it at first, and I asked for an explination, the explination seemed somewhat credible ((The person stated that she used spectral magic and blood magic, specrtal magic to bind it to my characters soul))
The weapon conjured is now bound to my character, and only he can wear it, its a quick blade, and I really like the concept of it. My question is~… is this credible in lore? Can Necromancers actually do this? and is it thus a good idea to keep roleplaying with this idea in mind?

I can see it being credible in lore – a weapon made of bone and sinew with spectral bindings. I’d see it as kind of like taking an Elementalist’s conjure weapon with Necromanctic traits (or making a minion in the shape of a weapon), and mixing it with the concept behind guardian weapons.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Necromancers use spectral powers and bone and flesh to do all sorts of crazy stuff. So I would consider it possible lore-wise. In GW1 and GW2 we never see necromancers summon any weapons, but I don’t see why not. I always imagined all necromancers to experiment with their magic, and invent new kinds of minions and spells (which is why my necromancer supposedly can animate and fly a bonedragon). Certainly not anything we can actually do in-game, but it’s still acceptable for roleplaying purposes. Come to think of it, in one of my videos Malafide even animates a bridge made out of bone. So you can get creative with it I suppose. I’ve never heard Anet deny the possibility of any of it out right.

A different perspective that this can be looked from is that Necromancers don’t use these kind of spells ‘openly’ due to them being considered either forbidden by the “Order” or because they don’t want to have non-Necromancers debate the morality of their spells more than they normally do. If a Necromancer reanimates a dragon into a bone dragon I think many non-necromancers will think the Necromancer’s profession should be outlawed as it is ‘dangerous’.

Making a weapon might be a waste of a good bone. Why not make a minion and tell the minion to hit your enemy rather than doing it yourself?

Why not both? The sword could be alive, and attack on its own.

That’s always how I looked at it as well. I imagine plenty of necromancers practice their art in secret. Working on weird experiments with their powers, using their own blood as a powerful ingredient. Studying new spells, new kinds of minions, new curses.

Stooper, the necromancer made it for Excell. It was probably a very thoughtful gift, plus Minions are impossible to command if you’re not a necromancer!

They can be difficult to command even if you are a Necromancer. Remember the end of A Deal’s a Deal cinematic from Nightfall?

you don’t need magic powers to make a bone dagger, humans have been doing it for thousands of years :P
