Assuming Anet is adding 3 new mobs into the GW2 universe. What would be your top 3 picks? Provide a small lore please.

1) Hybrids (Dizzy from Guilty Gear)
The inquest has been creating new weapons for years. Their bio-warfare division made a breakthrough. After combining the essences of both Dwayna and Grenth, and infusing them with Fleshreaver hosts, an army of hybrid creatures were created. Each wing acts separately from the host, so fighting each hybrid is like fighting 3 foes at once. Although they look much prettier than their fleshreaver origins, they are no less vicious.

2) Cthulhu (from Lovecroft)
Many aquatic races has claimed to be the rulers of the ocean. However the true ruler of the depths is even older than the elder dragons.

3) Wyrm Riders
Servants of one of the elder dragons, the wyrm riders controls and terrorize the skies each time they rode to battle. But that was in the past. Will the Charr airships prove supreme against these ancient foes?

Well, interesting choice, but:

1 – Hybrids
Those seem cool, and we already have those in the game, but having more of them would not hurt. Those might start appearing sometime, but not now, the focal point of gw2`s story is not the inquest at the moment.

2 – Cthulhu
Powerful god with twisting magic from the depths of the sea? I don`t know about you, but this looks alot like Abaddon. And we killed him over 200 years ago.

3 – Wyrm Riders
Once again, these look like something we already have, dragon champions. Basically the same thing.

Im not sure If I would want to add more enemies into the world of Tyria in gw2, but I would rather bring back some old antagonists from gw1. My personal favourite, the Mursaat, which might still be alive, who knows. They would fit perfectly in to the lore of gw2, but not yet. As some already said, Margonites would be really awesome, and interesting aswell.

If it could ever happen, seeing Seers once again would be freaking awesome. It`s maybe too much to ask for, so I guess we will not see them in gw2.

Some warn that the Mursaat will return to agonize the people of Tyria once more.

This belongs in the suggestion forum, not lore one.

Don’t go expecting Cthulhu – though the deep sea dragon’s name may be a reference to the Cthulhu mythos, it’s highly unlikely we’ll be getting an octopus+bat wing’d man from the ocean depths. Then there’s also Abaddon as Spectre mentioned – too similar to Cthulhu in of itself.

Your wyrm riders sounds like an attempt to turn the dragon champions (Claw of Jormag, Shatterer, etc.) into mounts for enemies. The lore behind the Elder Dragons’ minions is that the more powerful they are, the more draconic or serpentine they appear.

Like Mara and Spectre, I’d rather see a return of some of the old enemies before brand new enemies. And of new enemies, I’d rather it be more original and not too god or Elder Dragon focused. I wouldn’t mind a larger variety of pre-existing groups though, like getting more than three types of Destroyers to fight.

Enemies from GW1 I’d like to see a return of (from least to most): Titans, dryders, hydras, behemoths, and naga.

I’d like to see more of those regional big enemies from GW1, too, so, Hydras, Aurochs (yes, I know, they were a subtype of minotaurs, but I loved how they looked in EotN), and Behemoths from Nightfall.

Apart from old baddies like others mentioned, I like some of the obscure new members of our fauna like the Colocal or the Pinipal.

They are completly irrelevant to the game and you rarely see them, but when you see them you’re like wtf is that O.o

They are irrelevant but give Tyria a sense of uniqueness with its own fauna in aditoon to the other unique creatures that you kill more regularly.

I welcome the adition of weird new wild animals unique and rare enough to not be included in the slayer section (though I’ve heard the Colocal contributes to Griffon Slayer but I’m not sure if this is true and it doesn’t seem to have bird face).

1 – I want to see “Broken Ones”. For the reference, there once was a PC game called “Ravenloft: Strahd’s Possession”. One of the more difficult enemies were called “Broken Ones”, which basically were this – victims of a magical accident which left them twisted into half-people, half beast in ways which were NOT like “centaurs” or such. The reason they were difficult? Real time battle system and these things were very fast and in large ambush groups.

Something akin to those, reminiscent of the Afflicted, would be fun to see.

2 – The Return of the Awakened. I want to see the Awakened and Palawa Joko. I want to go clean up that mess in Elona. I want to stand in the Garden of Seborhim again.

3 – Smite Crawlers. Because the troll in me wants to see these things come out and play again and hear the screams of frustration.

Titans would be amazing in the GW2 engine though I guess people could easily mistake the fire ones for Destroyers. Still those guys were kitten before and would be kitten still.

I actually wouldnt mind seeing some of Powala Joko’s soldiers at some point. They have the whole mummy vibe, and unlike the risen, are an organised and disciplined army, if prone to infighting without strong leadership.

Dryders would be interesting. If nothing else Im very curious on exactly what they are. They pop up in some odd places.

I miss the Dinosaurs somewhat. I kind of would like to see them return.

This might be an obvious one but Id like to see the Mursaat again. Not in numbers. Any Mursaat ingame Id want to have as a boss level threat. Again, I think the Mursaat would look amazing with the current engine.

It does. And pinipals count the same as the non-bovine four-legged animals (Marmox etc.), iirc.

I’ve been half tempted to look at all these odd, rare, and unique wildlife creatures for a bit, with those two (colocal and pinipal) being the main ones that sparked my interest. I think pinipals are arctic amphibians, since they’re always seen in cold climates and near shallow water.

Well we can’t go to the Ring of Fire so unless they pop up near Fireheart Rise or other heavily Flame Legion areas, I doubt that’ll be an issue. :P

Weren’t the Titans Abaddon’s creations and the Domain of Anguish shut off the ability to make new ones?

Actually I believe it was an agent of Dhuum who was creating the Titans for Abaddon as part of the alliance they had. Also the Seer in Prophecies suggests that they are infact anceint which would likely mean they predate the war between the gods.

My personal theory is that Titans can form naturally under extreme conditions. Dhuum’s agent merely synthisised this process to create them in numbers.

I dont really have any solid evidence for it but it would fit the info we have on them as far as Im aware.

The Fury – Dhuum’s general – was the one creating Titans and the location is irrelevant. Titans can be made outside the Foundry of Failed Creations. And the seer’s line – and a Forgotten’s line – imply that the titans predate the Six Gods’ time on Tyria.

And I agree with Lutinz’ theory – the support being that they are made from tormented souls. Though the exact process is unknown, if a soul is agonized enough, a titan may form on its own. Given the two lines’ indication – that the titans existed as long as the forgotten, and that the seers knew them “eons ago” – I wouldn’t doubt that they’re not dependent on Dhuum/the Fury for being made.

In that case, I would definitely be interested in seeing the titans make a return.

Though I fear they’d be reviled more than the karka if they follow the same “chain spawning” that they had before.

More Dinosaurs especially in sparkfly type areas(i miss the t-rex types most).

More branded types, same for corrupted, more none risen creatures in and around orr (it gets abit boring constantly facing monsters only to find its the risen version).

what i’d like to see aswell is more creatures fighting over territory like you see with wolves and raptors(or heck raptors and anything they spot lol) in gendarren fields aswell as tweaked ai on others so they have unique hunting patterns and prey(colocal’s must have a reallly unique evolutionary reason for those stabby talons and a type of prey they’re perfectly suited to that would make their hunts fun to watch).

…just kidding. I would like to see more of old enemies, the Mursaat, White Mantle, and monsters like more dinosaur species. Just Raptors makes the jungle feel kinda incomplete, although i am not really keen on seeing T-Rexes again.

When it comes to fantasy creatures we haven’t seen at all, i would like to see some smaller dragons that aren’t undead, not just drakes.

Oh man, I LOVED that game. Going into the Catacombs and having to fight all those Wights was a terrifying/frustrating experience too. (“ kitten it! Got level drained. Reloading…”) It had a few genuinely creepy moments too; I always jumped whenever that kitten cat squealed in the town…

But back onto topic, while I’d like to see the Margonites again, they’ve lost their ability to reproduce, and with Abaddon’s death, are now incapable of making more of themselves. Any Margonites that still survived to the current day would be exceedingly rare, although that might still argue for a unique Margonite Champion boss lurking somewhere in the dark corners of the world (or maybe in a Fractal).

Personally, I’d like to see Rollerbeetles make a comeback in GW2, as well as Junundu. Oni were also an enemy I loved to fight in GW1, and I hope they’ll show up again if we re-visit Cantha.

Fractal-based Margonites would be amazing, if we could get to see them before they became all . . . corrupted. Face it, Fractals is a wonderful place to throw things which otherwise would not fit in modern/current Tyria.

I still vote titans, because they would be one of those things which require serious forethought to take on. And I would like to see more complex combat encounters going on. I hate that Grenth is hard to pass now sometimes but I love that it’s different.

Barring that, I have fond memories of:

Oh yeah, those suckers hit HARD. The female Vampires in the Graveyard and Castle, as well as the Undead Treants in the Mists, were also kitten creepy.

Totally agreed on the atmosphere though. Did you play the sequel, Stone Prophet? It was a lot smoother (and Ang’krag was hilarious), but it didn’t quite capture the creepy, jumping-at-shadows atmosphere of the first game.

I own both on CDRom and play through them a few times now and then. The second game had plenty of positives, but the atmosphere wasn’t scary and the game was improperly balanced if you were importing.

Anyway, this is now fully off topic so I stop here

When I saw that the Hydra Queen wasn’t a real hydra, I was very disappointed. I really wanted to see some of those guys in the real world. I think it would also be cool to go to the Ring of Fire island chain and see some Titans making their way through portals because the soul of the Lich Lord is no longer sealing the Door of Komalie (seeing as his soul was fought in the Realm of Torment). Other than that, I loved the dinosaurs. I sure as heck hated those Angorodons, but heck it made them really memorable.
