Notable things in LA
Quite interesting observations. I still haven’t gotten in the update yet. Will check it out soon.
Do you mean it is actively lowering, or just lowered?
It’s lowered but not actively (would be a hard thing to maintain :P)
The Tengu going full quarantine zone at the wall makes total sense but I fear this might hurt relations with them, possibly setting back any plans they have for opening up the Dominion of Winds (also points to it still being a while before the Tengu become playable)
To be fair to the tengu, they were fairly aggressive before this. There was nothing surprising about the tengu’s reaction here.
I thought it was weird that the city was literally burning around them yet Canach and his guard are just sitting in the jail. I was never in the area at the end of the event.
I found some giant footsteps IF they are footsteps.

Edit: They are probably not from marrionette, cause she has high heels if i remember. These look more like barefoot.

Things to note:
The “little probes” are actually the miasma containers.
The Molten Alliance machines are all around the Breachmaker, but mostly only the ones pointing towards the sky. The other sonic devices are only found at the Gunnery Range.
Checked the Whispers HQ there, nothing of interest.
Magnus mini despicts him with an eye-patch on the left eye and the right one is completely red.

Also the Marionette’s “corpse” is in Lornar’s pass now. But, we don’t know if that was the only one.

Possibly Scarlet’s golem? I struggle to think of anything else that would leave humanoid footprints that big. Maybe she finished her “super race”? I don’t think Giganticus would even fit the bill (they are too small to make footprints that big). Comparatively they look like they could be slightly larger than Tequatl’s footprint.
Edit, ideas as I get them: a massive flaming effigy?
-Asura Gate to Rata Sum still active
Dead give-away that Rata Sum is the ultimate target.
Epistemic.8013: Guys this is bullkitten a sentient plant creature is hitting these
wooden doors with fireballs and it’s working.
(edited by zamalek.2154)
When you say the Rata Sum gate is active – do you mean you can go through it – or just that the sparkly purple animation plays. Because the animation can quite often be bugged and shows up when it shouldnt
We as players can’t use it, but It’s what the Black Lion Dolyaks use to escape.
Also, one of the houses is using an Asura-looking forcefield to protect itself. Its on the west side of LA near the water. I don’t know who’s house it is/was and I can’t find a way in.

After the fight against the Molten Beserker, Magnus says something along the lines of ‘I cant see’. Not sure if its the beserker or the Miasma. The doc at the Vigil Keep Refugee camp mentions that they are losing about half the people that come in who are affected by it and the rest will probably have respiratory problems for life.
If you talk to the people around the camps it’s actually pretty bleak. Apparently the bulk of the Lionguard are already down for the count or dead. There are a lot of badly injured people and people who have lost love ones. The games rating wouldn’t allow them to have them in the game world but the refugees talk about mass graves. ALOT of people are dying from this attack.
Few things I noted:
- Ho-Ho-tron, now Heal-a- tron, is being hunted by the Seraph. He approaches Evon Gnashblade about some type of combat upgrade, but the upgrade sound purely defensive in nature.
- Evon has gotten conscripted into the Lionguard as a quartermaster thanks to Ellen Keil. He’s not to happy about it.
- I haven’t seen how Canach gets from his cage in the Vigil Keep to LA but he appears with Ellen Keil at the end of the Molten Beserker event at Fort Marriner to evaculate Magnus.
Note about the house with the force field. Isn’t that the house of the Priory agent from the Priory Personal story?

Maybe only Priory characters can get in?

-Magnus lost his left eye? (Molten Berserker event)
I’d have to re-read the novel, but didn’t he have an eyepatch in Edge of Destiny?
-MA machines pointing towards the Breachmaker and one that is pointing towards the sky
Clarification: those machines are Sonic Periscopes – aka listening devices. So I think they’re put there for Scarlet to communicate with her troops. Though… why is one pointing to the sky?
-New ‘caves’ opened up
Have yet to see these caves. Where at?

Marionette’s dead – there was only ever one, the repeating event was for benefit of players it seems, confirmed during a Live Stream.
Those look more like craters than footsteps though. The first is far too displaced to be a footprint, the second is more likey but again, looks more like a crater – an indentation of where stuff struck and sunk.
Also the Marionette’s “corpse” is in Lornar’s pass now. But, we don’t know if that was the only one.
It was, according to Angel McCoy.

It’s the miasma affecting him. It happens at a timed interval like his other miasma comments I believe.

It’s the other way around.
In the various escort events in LA, you actually save some of the refugees that are at the three camps. Evon included. Canach is in his cage in LA until the very end where he evacuates with Magnus and Kiel.
The LA zone happens before the speeches with the camp refugees, lore-wise.
Note about the house with the force field. Isn’t that the house of the Priory agent from the Priory Personal story?
Yes.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I remember you saying last night that Magnus had an eyepatch over his right eye in the novel so if he lost his left one now, that would mean he lost all of his eyesight.
That is my guess too, I can’t figure out why you would point them at the sky though. Unless of course there is something we can’t see.
Go and take a swim around the previous diving spot, with the goggles and stuff, I think they’re only there for mechanic reasons though (they have piles of rubble in there, for the Heirloom things)
I remember you saying last night that Magnus had an eyepatch over his right eye in the novel so if he lost his left one now, that would mean he lost all of his eyesight.
I’m not sure if he lost his eye, he just says something to the effect that he can’t see. Kiel comes and pulls him out saying he is injured. At the very least he is temporarily blind.
He seems to have an eye damaged in the fight with the Molten Berserker. I observed it thrice so far, he just shows up and leroys into the the middle of the battle. Seems to me like he’s scripted to run into the zerg, so I’d say it’s not the miasma.
Also I don’t know about him wearing an eyepatch in the novel but new datamined chat codes ([&AgGowwAA] and [&AgGmwwAA]) seem to indicate they’ll be in the gemstore as cosmetic item soon so he’ll definitely start wearing an eyepatch (again?) next time we see him. (also IIRC his Mini shows him with an eyepatch now?)
It’s strange that when you encounter him outside Fort Marriner he doesn’t wear any eye patch at all.
Also:
Magnus: ‘(groan) My eyes, I can’t see.’
Ellen Kiel: ‘Everyone, get aboard the airship! We are leaving!’
Magnus: ‘Belay that order. Keep fighting. We aren’t losing the fort.
Ellen Kiel: Magnus, you’re hurt. And the fort is gone. Get aboard now!
Then they leave along with Canach, Siriam, Lawson and a bunch of other guys.
(edited by Jelle.4623)
Well the name of the drill/ship is interesting in and of itself. Maybe the name Breachmaker gives us some kind of clue as to what she’s after? Maybe shes not after someone/thing but somewhere?
Please give us a keyring…

I have seen Canach 3 times, once in his cell with the door shut, once in his cell with the door open and once when they were about to evacuate.
And is it priory? I thought OoW but that might be one of the other houses. But yeah, it’s from one of the personal story missions.
Strictly speaking, Maeva isn’t a member of the Priory, just an independent researcher that Gixx knows. But yes, it’s her house. The house of the dead Whisper’s agent is the one at the Smuggler’s Waypoint.

Well, there is apparently an eyepatch item coming out. It’s in the PVP locker to be previewed.
Magnus’s eyepatch (left or right, has both).

They’re drops from the content, I believe. I think I saw someone saying they got one of them.
It’s strange that when you encounter him outside Fort Marriner he doesn’t wear any eye patch at all.
I would place this on the fact that he was introduced without one. When he was modeled, there was no eyepatch in the game and he used fully old armor.

Two things, the Aetherblade JP in Gendarren fields is still there and manned, but the airship has left. (floating crates remain that were on it’s deck)
However, I randomly got teleported from that ‘control room’ area to Bad omen beach, where I noticed there IS an airship parked over the water. Unmarked, so it must be Pact or Lionguard.

Or he could just have had 2 perfectly good eyes…

A NPC in Gendarren Fields said that she is blind thanks to the gas(/miasma), Magnus accident might have had nothing to do with the Molten Berserker after all?
It’s the miasma. I’ve seen the dialogue when the Molten Berserker isn’t active.

Took a sceenshot just now.

The Airship is back in the JP. One of the recent patch updates talked about putting a missing airship back in Gendarren – I assume that was it.
It probably got accidentally removed when they put the new airship in.

Yeah, saw that in patchnotes but didn’t confirm it. Somebody said something about a “missing ledge” so I went to investigate. Was still surprised when I randomly was teleported and BAM, there’s an airship parked over that little lake near the pirates.
Do we have any counts of friendly airships in the area around LA? I know of the one at bad omen beach, the one over Vigil Keep, and apparently Kiel’s former aetherblade ship is above stormbluff isle (next time I’m in that region I’ll look). So that’s 3 that could be Lionguard dedicated airships.
Kiel’s ship is parked directly over the OoW headquarters, in fact. However, neither she nor Magnus are there…or anywhere else, so they must be on board the ship itself.
Anybody besides me find that curious?

I find it irritating. Kiel was supposed to be the one member of the council willing to collaborate with us, and instead she’s the one member (other than the MIA Peter the Lost) who does not interact with us in any way.
@CureForLiving, yap I was talking about her :P
__
@ Aaron, and Magnus is supposed to be injured, shouldn’t he be in a (field) hospital? Unless they provided him with his own medic who’s permanently on the ship which would be selfish with all the casualties coming in.

Given the council’s overall negligence in preparing LA’s defenses I’d say having a private medic wouldn’t be a stretch. Really I think all them have already earned themselves a whole bunch of Thoughtless Potions.
I broke the quote system , consider the following part from : Eluveitie

I don’t thing the game rating would suffer from larges graves. Just look at the Duskwood zone in Wow, that zone is a big cemetery. I just wish we could see more dead bodies and not only take the words from npc ( But overall, good update. )
Giant graveyards are one thing, but having dozens of bodies thrown into one hole is another entirely, and it’s one of those things that we like to forget happens. So yeah, it’d probably up the rating.
Add flowers to the hole = problem solved. Flowers always calm the rating. Could just be lines of lion guard and citizen under blanket, without blood .
( I know there is dead people in the medical stations )
As long as it doesn’t look like Attack on Titan, should be fine.
Well, military style long lines of lion guard under some kind of coverage would give a lot of depth IMO.
As long as we’re discussing bodies, I have gotten into the habit of singing “Bodies” by Drowning Pool in map chat while rezzing the many players who don’t escape that last lethal spurt of miasma.
