These are some of the more simple but dramatic creatures regularly walking around Tyria, but the wiki doesn’t seem to have any lore information about them.

So where did they come from, Melandru? Are they sentient and if so what are their goals? Are they related to the Sylvari in any way?

They seem very enigmatic to me.

You Forgot the noble Mossheart.

So far they seem to be some sort of living plant trent that has a symbiotic relationship with the forest it lives in. They don’t seem to be highly intelligent creatures, like Trents in most fantasy genres.

That’s all I can gather from events and renowned hearts

Sort of like building a sandcastle

I haven’t encountered a Mossheart yet, so I didn’t know they existed.

Ah, yeah they’re in Jungle territory. Very different looking compared to others.

They seem somewhat connected to druids .. not really sure about their origins. Another thing I’m curious about are the different varieties of aloe seeds that seem to have totally disappeared from Tyria. They were always popping up in the Shiverpeaks, Maguuma, Ascalon area, etc. Now I haven’t seen anything about them. I guess they became extinct.

The species’ wiki page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Treant

There isn’t much known on them sadly. We only know that they’re sentient mobile trees, and what they use for fertilizer for their young. Beyond that, it’s a mystery still.

There’s four kinds of treants in the world: Oakhearts, Pinesouls, Mossheart, and… can’t recall the name of the fourth kind, but they’re modeled after Weeping Willow trees. Druids, formerly humans, shed their skins and became like the last treants – before becoming spectral (the “Abhorrent Spirit”s found in Brisban Wildlands are the druid spirits).

In GW1, it’s "shown"http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Unnatural_Growths that plants are made sentient from magical concentrations – which is why the Maguuma has so many, since there’s a bloodstone there. In Twilight Arbor, Faolain is said to be cultivating a “Nightmare Tree” (which is basically a giant treant).

There’s been speculations that Ewan and his tribe were the first treants, given the scriptures of Melandru.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

i saw something like this from a quest in the brisband wildlands.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Return_the_arboreal_spirit_to_its_husk,_and_drive_away_the_hylek
he says he is a maguma druid and he returns to his husk to sleep.
through the way he talks he seems connected to the rest of the druids while he talks to you. food for thought

Necro time!

In Siren’s Landing there are two botanists talking about an Oakheart – next to Watchman’s Roost. In one of the dialogues, they mention that the Oakheart’s ancestors predate humanity’s arrival on Tyria.
