Original Destiny's Edge from GW1
Apparently some of them wrote books:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Aidan_Journal
Firebrand: Tales of Cynn
The World on a Turtle Shell: My Time with the Luxons by Mhenlo
Torn Between Two Gods: The Story of Mhenlo
Eve of Destruction
But I agree more acknowledgement of them and the nameless hero (the GW1 player character)* would be nice.
*Heroes actually, not hero. There are indications in the GW1 story that 3 nameless heroes are officially recognized: the player character from Ascalon, the player character from Cantha and the player character from Elona.

Maybe even acknowlegement if you linked your account, they could reference for example:
“An ancestor or yours was involved in the first dragon rising….” or for a new account
“An unknown hero lead a group to rival Destiny’s Edge and was a key figure in the events of that era”.
But considering they were the equivalent of Rytlock, Logan, Caithe, Zoija and Eir or Taimi, Rox, Brahme, Marjory and Kasmeer for GW1.
I miss them and Mhenlo’s bald head but strangely muscular frame lol – plus who can forget Devona and her Smash smash hammer!
I always called them Tyria Allstars .
Didn`t we have some offsprings of them ingame?
I know we saw some of their graves, as well as some of their works (books).
I think they could make the Hall of Monuments to do with it? Maybe have the group of 5 went off on a final adventure that no one ever heard from them again. Then in Gw2, we retrace their steps… and thats season 3 :P
A fractal with them would be extremely cool.
Would you choose a moment in time? If so, we would have to play as one of them to not interfere with the lore.
Or we could play a lost scene maybe?
I forget where and who, but there’s a group of ancestors of henchmen standing around in Divinity’s Reach. You can go find them and talk to them.

I think that’s what jaken’s thinking of. They aren’t descended from Devona & company, but the first four henchies- Alesia, Orion, Reyna, and Stefan.
Yeah cos i think all 4 of them have gravestones in GW2 – i think either outside Divinity’s reach or in Ebonhawke

Well if you think what happened within the 15 years after the Krytan Civil war:
- Ebonhawke got built – might be cool to escort humans from one point to another whilst under attack by charr
- The Foefire – What if they were turned to ghosts by Adelbern – considering they are all Ascalonian!
- The Beginning of the Durmand Priory – imagine if some lost secret of the DP is found in the fractal
Of course, there could be some other instance, but thats for the writers to determine!
Mhenlo became the new Headmaster of Shing Jea Monastery after Togo’s death, and the last we saw of him (at the end of Winds of Chaos), he was still there. The logical assumption would be that he settled down in Cantha along with Cynn, and both of them are buried there. I don’t know whether Devona, Aidan and Eve would have followed suit (Aidan and Devona have very strong ties to Ascalon), but it’s possible they decided to stay with their friends too.

Iirc, Reyna and Alesia are buried at the Granite Citadel (really wish we knew what happened there!) and Stefan was caught by the Foefire in the vicinity of Grendich. I don’t remember any mention of Orion’s fate.
If any we could take a look into one of their books, which they were part of.
There should be enough material in it to build a fractal or two out of it.
On another note, it would even be enough to have a fractal depicting a GW1 szene with them.
Does anyone else remember these stories: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Stories. I loved them.
Edit: And now I find myself once again reading the awesomeness that was the Guild Wars 1 manual: ftp://ftp.guildwars.com/downloads/gwp-manual.pdf

I even remember the smell of those booklets, back from when I first read them in 2006… Instant flashbacks!
If you think back to GW1, and look at the historical figures that game mentioned, a few did become playable in the bonus missions:
Master Togo (Cantha)
Turai Ossa (Elona)
Gwen (EotN)
Saul D’Lessio (Kryta)
I might be an idea if they did something similar, play people in the past. Even our heroes from GW1 – and this time i’m talking about Jora ( who has a statue ), Zhed, Koss (has a book), Vekk etc.
I think due to the success of a recent LS patch and the Durmond Priory with all the books, Anet should let us know what happened to our former friends. I know they’ll probably just say… its better for players to use their imagination and not for Anet to say what happened. But i think it’d be cool.
P.S…. Liviaaaaaaaa!!!
And if we do go to Cantha…. i hope we find the Mhenlo monastery!
Also, remember that the original heroes were all human. My asuran mesmer or charr guardian could not possibly be descended from them.
Guardians of the Vault [GotV] and Guíld of Dívíne Soldíers [GoDS]
Gate of Madness server
Very true, which is why although the original 5 i mentioned were all human, they could then have a racial group for the 5 playable races.
For Charr think Pyre Fierceshot and his warband he rescues from the Cathedral of Flame in GW1
For Norn, think Jora, Olaf – the founder of Olafstead, Sif Shadowhunter, Magni the Bison
For Asura, you have Vekk, Oola, Blimm, Zinn – and maybe an old golem friend like R.O.X or M.O.X. :P
Only Sylvari have no direct ancestors… although maybe there is some relationship between them and the wardens in Cantha of the Echovald Forest?
Even though I would love to see them incorporated more in GW2…I would settle for minis…like a mini Koss…or Mhenlo
Yeah i guess, the mostly likely way will be the gem store. I’d love a mini Cynn, and have her talk all her kitteny lines "The next person to call me “hot lips” gets scorched."
Mini Mhenlo does have a nice ring to it though !
We never did see the original 5 actually meet though did we? We know Eve meet the other 4 in the graveyard, but what about the 4? how did they all meet?

I kinda assumed they met during the charr invasion after the searing, being forced to work together and then just stuck with eachother. I don’t think there is any indication that they were a team before the searing.

This, although we do know Devona knew Mhenlo and Cynn pre-Searing.
I would love to see more of those heroes!
They were awesome back in GW!
Hope to see something related to them soon...
I thought they were intentionally kept to a minimum in the GW2 history because it would creep in on the achievements of the GW1 hero. While they had their own story and they were around for each campaign, they were never central figures during any of the stories (except for Factions and Mhenlo).
The GW1 PC has to remain nameless for obvious reasons and too much recognition given to Devonna and co would give the impression that they were the big heroes during the time of GW1. Kinda like how new players during the Festival of the Four Winds this year are told the biconics were the ones that defeated Scarlet. When you can’t name the player, any NPC you do name suddenly becomes the most important character.
Heroes get more of a mention but they were tied into campaign stories more deeply than the henchmen.

Or just keep it as a dialogue for humans. It’s a lot more reasonable that everybody’s human PC be a descendant of one of their GW1 characters than for everyone’s charr PC to be a descendent of the Fierce warband.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

I get what your saying, but what i meant was, after the events of EotN and the Civil War update, what happened to them? They obviously were important part of the GW1 story since they were in every campaign, i just think they need a bit more recognition in GW2. Its also we don’t know what happened to them? Some characters like Gwen we know all about, Livia we have hints that she’s still alive.
My (poor) attempt at making some GW1 heroes in GW2 – had to make Mhenlo a Norn for the tattoos lol, and Cynn is kinda difficult to recreate
Anyone do better?
